This is an important step forward.

Ecosystem design is too often treated as something that “just emerges.” In reality, it is a capability—one that can be learned, practiced, and refined.

Great to see the first SEE-Me cohort complete the foundational programme and begin applying these ideas to real-world challenges.

We need many more ecosystem architects trained to design markets and systems that work—at scale, and for more people.

SEE-ME—Systems for Economic Empowerment through Market and Ecosystem Design—is a learning-by-design program in which participants learn and design markets and ecosystems that enable people, firms, and communities who are currently invisible to participate meaningfully in the modern, post-digital...

Why haven’t standards alone solved data portability? Because moving verified information between organisations brings legal and operational complexity along for the ride.

This post explains why **self-custody** is the missing layer that makes trust truly portable, like shipping containers did for global trade.

Why Standards Alone Are Not Enough Every major economic expansion has followed the same pattern: reduce the cost of moving something important. Roads reduced the cost of moving goods across land. Railways connected national markets. Shipping containers standardised global trade. The internet s

In 2025, digital identity systems were tested in the real world — not just in pilots or controlled environments.

What we learned was simple but important: strong digital identity depends less on features and interfaces, and more on the underlying infrastructure. How data is held, how rules are enforced, and how systems work together all matter when trust needs to scale.

This article explores what 2025 revealed about digital identity, and why long-term trust starts with the right foundations.

2025 was a revealing year for digital identity (ID). Not because of a single breakthrough, but because many ideas were finally tested outside controlled pilots and into real operating environments. Digital IDs faced distribution. Systems encountered scale. Schemes encountered governance. Cross-orga

As we begin 2026, one idea stands out: trust is infrastructure. It is the bedrock of markets. It enables safety in information exchange and reduces the congestion between supply and demand of information.

In a digital economy that spans organizations, borders and services, trust is the infrastructure layer and the foundation of interoperability.

The Dataswyft Wallet Suite encapsulates trust as infrastructure through the mobility of trusted information from data sources to data subjects to data receivers, conducted through - self sovereign, self custody data rails - so that physical, real world trusted relationships can be translated into digital ones directly without being locked in into a service or platform.

This video reflects an evolving perspective on how responsible digital systems can benefit from greater use of data — with privacy, verifiability and interoperability at their core.

Watch the video to explore how digital trust infrastructure can catalyze markets and enable global value exchange.

2025 was a year defined by clarity of purpose.

Throughout the year, Dataswyft remained focused on advancing interoperable, privacy-preserving digital trust infrastructure — contributing to global conversations on data sovereignty, verifiable identity, and responsible data governance.

This included external recognition of sovereignty-first trust models, such as acknowledgment through the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation vLEI Hackathon, as well as ecosystem collaborations with partners like Kuza Biashara to explore inclusive, real-world applications of trusted data infrastructure.

As we enter 2026, the focus remains steady: supporting digital ecosystems that are interoperable, user-centric, and built on trust by design.

A new year is a moment to pause, reflect, and look ahead.

As we enter 2026, our focus remains on the fundamentals that endure:
Making the invisible, valuable through self-sovereignty and self-custody of verified, trusted data and credentials.

We’d like to wish all of you a happy 2026 — and a thoughtful start to the year ahead.

As 2025 comes to a close, it’s clear that digital trust is no longer a secondary consideration — it has become foundational infrastructure.

Over the past year, conversations across ecosystems increasingly centred on data sovereignty, interoperability, and verifiability as essential building blocks for participation in the digital economy. These reflections reinforce a simple truth: trusted systems work best when they are designed around user control, shared frameworks, and long-term resilience.

As we move into 2026, these principles continue to shape how responsible digital trust ecosystems are imagined and evaluated.

As the year comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to step back and reflect.

To the researchers, technologists, and organizations working behind the scenes to build trustworthy data systems — we appreciate the care, rigour, and responsibility you bring to this work.

This season isn’t about announcements or progress updates.
It’s about pause, perspective, and preparing for what comes next.

Wishing you a calm and restorative holiday season.

How do you close a US $5.7 trillion SME credit gap (World Bank, 2025) when 40% of MSMEs in emerging markets still can’t access finance even in the digital age?

Millions of viable businesses are excluded from formal finance, not because they’re risky, but because their reliability can’t be seen and verified.

Our Dataswyft Wallet (already in commercial operations) changes that by turning everyday transactions into verifiable behavioral data — portable smart data to prove creditworthiness. Everyday transactions become a cryptographically secured signal of reliability, enabling a new model for lending where trust, not paperwork, unlocks access to credit.

The Dataswyft Wallet, embedded within the Kuza One Network app (connecting 1.5 M farmers and 6K agripreneurs across Africa and Asia), shows how fintech infrastructure built on data ownership and GLEIF vLEI-signed credentials gives users visibility and lenders the confidence to extend credit and bringing capital where it generates both yield and impact.

And we’re now rolling the solution with Kuza One (Kuza Biashara) in Africa and Asia.

Teamwork makes the dream work! This 2025 GLEIF vLEI Hackathon win (Trade, Supply Chain & SME Finance category) says it all!

Our solution, "From Invisible to Investable” shows how verifiable digital identities and GLEIF’s vLEI-signed credentials empower MSMEs long overlooked by formal finance. By turning everyday transactions—once invisible—into smart data that is verifiable, self-owned, and portable, we show how MSMEs can prove reliability and access credit with the Dataswyft Wallet (already in commercial operations) + vLEI.

Together with Kuza Biashara, we’ll be rolling out this solution for agripreneurs and smallholder farmers across Africa this month!

Dataswyft wins the 2025 GLEIF vLEI Hackathon with its “From Invisible to Investable” solution, proving how smart data and digital identity can unlock MSME finance.

Some summary snippets from Irene Ng’s sessions at the panels:

“The LEI is a 20 character identifier of an organization’s identity. The vLEI is a 20 character identifier of an organization’s identity that mandates the incorporation of a person’s identity as the authorised person of the organization. That means, within one identity product, both a verified person and a verified organization is included.

For Dataswyft, the vLEI gives us the opportunity to bridge formal and the informal economies - providing self-custody, verifiable data to all MSMEs, whether they are digital creators, street vendors or smallholder farmers - and include them in all ways - digitally, socially and financially. When their data, their interactions and their records can be reliably signed with greater trust , as well as owned by them, and travel with them, we can enable credit to flow more efficiently and at scale.”
