Another proud chapter in Cannock Sound Hire history: providing the audio production for the official opening of Black Sabbath Bridge on Broad Street, Birmingham.

On 26 June 2019, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler arrived by narrowboat for the naming ceremony of the bridge that now carries the name of Birmingham’s legendary heavy metal pioneers. The bridge, which crosses the canal near Symphony Hall, was renamed in recognition of Black Sabbath’s enormous contribution to music and the city that formed them.

The brief came with some unique technical challenges. A Black Sabbath tribute band performed on a small island in the middle of the canal — a location where no electrical power was permitted. We ran a 100 m, 24-channel analogue multicore from the island, taking clean line-level signals back to our control desk and amplification, safely positioned away from the water.
Carefully placed line-array points delivered clear, even coverage around the waterway.

We also installed a 100 V line system on the narrowboat itself, allowing Tony and Geezer to address the crowd.

We’re still extremely proud to have played a part in this special occasion. Huge thanks once again to the team at Westside BID for inviting us to support the event.

As Birmingham and the world come together to mark Ozzy Day — one year since the passing of the legendary Ozzy Osbourne — we’re reflecting on a proud moment from our history.

In January 2018, during the Metro expansion works, we were honoured to work with Greg Gdow from www.fiftysevenstudio.com to provide technical support for the reinstatement of the iconic Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street.

The bench — a much-loved symbol of Birmingham’s heavy metal heritage — was carefully reinstated on a freezing cold day, with the ceremony streamed live around the world due to restrictions at the time.

We were delighted to work alongside the brilliant team at Westside BID (Business Improvement District), who entrusted us with delivering the lighting, rigging and technical support.
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi joined the event via live link, making it a truly special occasion watched by fans globally.

We’re incredibly proud to have played a small part in celebrating Birmingham’s rich musical legacy and the enduring spirit of Black Sabbath.

Huge thanks to the entire Westside BID team for inviting us to be involved in this memorable ceremony.

It was an absolute privilege for Cannock Sound Hire to deliver the full AV production for the South Asian Heritage Month event on 16 July 2026 at the stunning Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

The evening beautifully celebrated the past, present, and future of South Asian culture in Britain through powerful conversations and personal stories. Guest speakers included:
• Ninder Johal DL, who shared the journey that shaped his identity and career in the music industry
• Monder Ram, reflecting on how something as simple as a name can transform the future of a family
• Amber Sandhu, who delivered a moving tribute to the sacrifices families make to uplift the next generation — a message that deeply resonated with so many in the room.

We were especially inspired by the President’s address from Monica Ghai, who eloquently highlighted the rich diversity of Asian cultures, colours, music, and traditions. Her warmth and humour perfectly captured the essence of community gatherings.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening so special, and to the wonderful team at Birmingham Botanical Gardens for their continued trust and support.

🎉 It was an absolute pleasure for the team at Cannock Sound Hire to deliver full audio, lighting, and staging production for the triumphant return of Bilston Carnival earlier this month!

After an 18-year absence, this much-loved community event made a fantastic comeback on 4 July with a vibrant 1960s theme — honouring its rich history while bringing families and locals together for a day of celebration in Hickman Park and hosted by the amazing Dicky Dodd.

We were proud to supply our powerful Norton Audio LS3 system as the Front of House PA, paired with an Allen & Heath digital mixer for precise control and fully wireless Sennheiser digital microphones across the event.
The sound was clear, punchy, and perfectly suited to the carnival atmosphere.

A huge thank you to the brilliant Events Team at Wolverhampton City Council for their continued friendship, hospitality, and seamless collaboration — it’s always a joy to work with such passionate professionals who make these events possible.

🎥 Proud to have delivered full AV production at the beautiful Weston Park on the Staffordshire-Shropshire border for We Are Staffordshire and Screen Staffordshire.

This excellent conference celebrated film production and highlighted the significant economic and creative benefits it brings to the county. It was a fantastic insight into the growing film industry in Staffordshire.

For the event we deployed:
• 3x 85” screens
• Allen & Heath digital mixing desk
• Sennheiser digital wireless audio system
• Yamaha DXR PA system for crystal-clear sound

From the moment the Mayor of Wolverhampton officially opened the event, the park came alive with powerful speeches — including an inspiring address by the Deputy Lieutenant — and an excellent line-up of live music that resonated throughout the day.

🎵 What an incredible weekend at the Solihull Music Festival!

We had a fantastic time delivering full audio production for this fantastic free event, organised by the brilliant team at Solihull BID.

The festival brought live music to the High Street, Mell Square, and multiple venues across the town centre, creating a vibrant atmosphere that boosted footfall for businesses throughout the entire weekend.

We deployed our reliable Yamaha and EV systems across two pop-up stages, powering a packed programme of live acts from start to finish.

A huge thank you to the Solihull BID team for their outstanding organisation and vision, and to everyone who came out to enjoy the music in the heart of Solihull. It was brilliant to see the town buzzing!

It was an absolute pleasure to supply the full audio-visual setup for the Steve Bull Royal Ascot Garden Party last weekend.

We installed and seamlessly linked four 4K screens for flawless simultaneous viewing across the venue, while our Yamaha DXR speakers delivered crystal-clear, powerful audio that perfectly complemented the atmosphere.

A huge thank you to Kirsty and Steve Bull MBE for trusting us again — it’s always a privilege to be part of such a fantastic event. Already looking forward to next year’s celebration!
