TinkerSoc The University of Kent’s Maker Society It’s a Wednesday night and you have decided that you want to MAKE something.

But, where on campus do you go if you want to do some sewing? Perhaps you have an itch to turn something on a lathe or want just want to send a radio wave around the world? Tinkersoc, Kent’s Maker society, is the place to go. Wether it’s 3D printing something, or cutting through materials with lasers, we have the tools and experience to help you with your project. We even run workshops, so that yo

u can pick up new skills (no experience is required!)

So, if this has piqued your interest and you want to hang out with like-minded people who enjoy making things, then pop along to The Shed (the School of Computing’s Makerspace - located in the Cornwallis Quad) from 7PM on a Wednesday night! Your first time at Tinkersoc is always free and subs go towards hosting workshops and funding new tools.

Hi all, a message from Meg, the Employability Points Ambassador;

I wanted to send a quick message into your group to remind you that the Employability Points deadline is under a week away (16th March)! This is your final chance to log points for the co curricular activities you have been getting involved in. If you do log enough points, you will be able to apply for a range of the rewards being offered, such as an IT systems and AI internship with SARD, a web development internship with Reflect Digital, employability sessions on tech careers with Careerz, and many more.

Last Chance for Bletchley Park Trip!

We are planning a trip to Bletchley Park on the 23rd November. Bletchley Park was the centre of allied code-breaking efforts during WWII, and has a rich history in Engineering, Computing, Physics and radio communications.

If you are able to drive, please indicate so on the form, you will be reimbursed for fuel costs if you can take passengers. Travel arrangements will be confirmed once the form has closed.
