CLOSED Saturday 29th August
OPEN Tuesday 8th September

Sturrock Computers is trading glowing screens for standard Scottish drizzle! 🌧️🦆
Because why go somewhere sunny when you can spend 10 days enjoying the great Scottish outdoors in a waterproof jacket? We are officially powering down to clear our brain cache.
We will be completely offline, ignoring all flashing lights, and absolutely refusing to "turn it off and on again" until we get back. If your tech acts up while we are away, just step away from the blue screen and wait for our return.
Thanks for your patience, Carnoustie. See you on Tuesday the 8th (hopefully dried out)!

Blast from the past: an Amstrad CPC 6128.
The Amstrad CPC 6128—a piece of 1980s tech that’s as iconic as shoulder pads and neon leg warmers! This home computer, with its chunky design and 3-inch floppy, was the gateway drug to the world of computing and gaming for many. The eye-popping colour display and classic green-screen monitor were windows to countless pixelated adventures.

This machine wasn’t just about fun and games; it was also a breeding ground for budding programmers spending hours coding in BASIC, trying to make their computers do something, anything, impressive. Sturdy and dependable, this computer was as common in homes and schools as bad haircuts.

Today, the Amstrad CPC 6128 is a prized possession for collectors and retro tech fans, serving as a nostalgic nod to a time when getting techy meant getting your hands dirty—literally. It’s a shame we just couldn’t fix it.

Hooman, how could you betray me like this? As an elite indoor cat, my life is a delicate balance of napping in sunbeams, screaming at birds through the window glass, and judging you from my seat of power ( House of Dragons has shown me how to rule better) I do not brave the wild elements of Carnoustie. I let you do the hunting.

So you can imagine my shock when you returned from your quest from Happy Paws Carnoustie with... a dental stick! For a fierce house panther! Where was another fish as you know this won’t last long 🙄

Watch in awe as I bat it under the sofa, retrieve it with a dramatic flip, and throw it high into the air like a majestic house panther. Yes, I am technically cleaning my teefies while I chew on it, but the humans don't need to know. I do apologise for it landing on the coffee table and slightly knocking the mug of coffee.
Also for the book getting slightly wet, but you did buy it 🤣
Hoomans buy your cat a stick I have had so much fun cleaning my teeth or when I gracefully leave it for them to stand on in the dark.

Anyone

Does anyone know of a community space, hall, cafe or somewhere for this lovely group to continue meeting when the East Scryne Fruit closes for winter.

If you haven’t got a hold of eclipse glasses & hoping the grey clouds will stay away here are some ideas.

With some shops running out of stock, it may be too late to buy eclipse glasses - but you can still safely watch the spectacle using some household items.

Running a computer shop, we spend all day surrounded by tech, but looking out the window lately has been a massive reality check.
Seeing the wildfires tear through the Cairngorms National Park was/is heartbreaking. It is a stark reminder of just how fragile and important our environment really is.
That is why we are incredibly proud to share our cousin Rebecca McLeanYouTube channel. They are dedicated to environmental awareness, sustainability, and protecting the planet. We can’t just rely on technology to fix everything; we need real education and action.

Breaking our social media silence! 🎉
If you’ve wondered why we’ve been quiet lately, you can blame Mo. She’s been locked away in her design cave causing mischief and bringing history back to life. She just took faded old sepia photographs and restored it into a crisp, brand-new black and white masterpiece! 🖥️✨
Mind you, she wasn't too busy to sneak out and treat the house to a stunning new vase from HAYM this week. It turns out supporting our brilliant local high street is the only thing that can distract her from her screen. 🏺🎨Have a wonderful Friday, folks! Remember to shop local this weekend! 🥳
