Thinking about buying a gaming PC for Christmas?

I’ve noticed a surge in posts from people asking for help with “new” or *barely used* gaming PCs they’ve purchased through Marketplace only to find out they’ve been misled.

Many of these systems are advertised with false hardware specs or promises that they’ll “run top games.” In reality, most are just basic office PCs: outdated, underpowered, and completely unsuitable for gaming. Some are thrown into flashy new cases with RGB lights to look the part. Others have been overclocked unsafely or contain hardware that’s been locked or banned on certain gaming platforms.

I’m even seeing 14-year-old PCs being sold as “new - I just don’t have time to game anymore.”

👉 **Remember: If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.**
