🏖️ Are you heading off on holiday?
While you look forward to enjoying yourself, trying to look at the horizon more than your phone screen, here are a few tips from OX365!
📱 Travelling can be a vulnerable time for your tech, so take a few minutes to do these things before you go:
➡️ Set up a screen lock
▸If your phone goes missing in an airport, café or taxi, your PIN, fingerprint or face recognition is the single most important thing protecting your personal data.
➡️ Check what's accessible from your lock screen
▸Can someone switch on Airplane Mode without unlocking it?
▸Can they read security codes from text messages or WhatsApp?
▸Check your notification settings and disable anything sensitive.
🟢 On iPhone, look in Face ID & Passcode > Allow Access When Locked.
🟢 On Android, check your Lock Screen settings.
➡️ Back up your phone before you go!
▸While you're at it, install any pending system updates.
➡️ Download and save your travel documents before you leave
▸Keep offline copies of boarding passes, travel insurance, accommodation details, emergency contacts and other travel documents in case you can’t get online.
➡️ Better still, go old school and print them out!
▸If your phone runs out of battery or gets lost or stolen, you'll still have access to the information you need.
➡️ Enable Find My / Google Find Hub (or your phone's equivalent)
▸Consider sharing your location with someone you trust while you're away. If your phone is lost, stolen or left behind, they may be able to help you find it.
🔐 How would you access your email and important documents if your phone disappeared tomorrow?
🛟 If your 2FA logins are all tied to just your phone, add another option, and make sure you have backup recovery methods configured.
Once you've done these things, hopefully you can relax and set off on your holiday stress-free! 👌🏖️
