Here we have it then, my first repair! 🔧
So here's what I've established so far... Acid Corrosion, my absolute favourite 🙄
I mean, the burn marks around the battery door tell me all I really need to know...
I've just received this Game Boy Advance as "Spares/Repairs" that's been heavily modified (IPS screen, adjustable brightness wheel, updated speaker, audio amp, all that lovely stuff!)
Fantastic bit of kit I must say! But...
Doing all of that work, and still expecting store bought, off the shelf AA batteries to stay in one piece, and above all else, remain safe...
Absolutely not! 🤬
I see two choices ahead of me:
Remove the mods and restore the board to a more "standard" state. I have to admit, that's the heartbreaking one 😔
Or... install a 1500mAh rechargeable battery along with a PCB mod, to avoid a potential disaster like this again whilst keeping this absolute beast in check!
I think I'll go with the second option 😁
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the motherboard hasn't completely fried itself through all the pain inflicted on it 🤞
