We were in the Clacton area today carrying out an emergency upgrade to an alarm system following a break in.
The burglars used WiFi jammers in an attempt to disable the alarm system. This knocked out the property’s WiFi connection meaning the system couldn’t contact the client’s mobile phone as the primary communication path was via WiFi.
This also took the customers WiFi Ring doorbell and Ring cameras offline and prevented them from recording the break in to the cloud.
To its credit, the alarm system activated immediately thanks to its built in wireless jamming detection features. However, this still didn’t stop the burglars from forcing entry in broad daylight at around 4pm by smashing through the back windows.
To significantly improve the security of the property we upgraded the existing Pyronix system to a brand new Ajax wireless alarm system with dual signalling capabilities. The new system is connected via a hardwired internet connection as well as a SIM card backup, ensuring communication remains active even if WiFi jamming is attempted again.
We also installed full perimeter protection throughout the property, including shock sensors on all windows and doors to detect impact and attempted entry before access is gained.
Additional PIR motion sensors were fitted internally along with 2 external sirens and 2 internal sirens to provide maximum audible deterrence and coverage throughout the property.
The system is also now fully monitored by an Alarm Receiving Centre. This means that if the internet connection is disrupted, the system will still notify the client through the mobile app while simultaneously alerting the monitoring station, who can then contact keyholders and the police immediately.
We also installed hardwired CCTV cameras around the property featuring human & vehicle detection, 24/7 full colour imaging, and built in audio for added security
