Should every driver’s licence really be checked at exactly the same time?

A one size fits all approach might be easier to manage, but drivers aren't all the same. Some drivers may need more frequent checks because of their driving history, experience or other risk factors ,whilst lower risk drivers may not need as much monitoring.

Driver and vehicle data must be legally downloaded regularly to ensure compliance (every 28 days for driver cards and 90 days for vehicle downloads,) and it can be costly to miss a download, but not just in fines.

The importance of downloading tachograph data regularly doesn't just mean that you'll avoid costly fines, but it could also save your fleet time and increase efficiency too.

DVSA prioritises 'targeted enforcement' which means your more likely to get pulled over at the roadside if you've been in breach of missing tachograph data before, which, whilst necessary, can add time onto an already schedule.

Regular tachograph data also helps improve infringements, the more often you download driver card data, the more often you can spot infringements and stop behaviour patterns before they become a problem.

This August marks an big milestone for us — 30 years as Transport Data Interchange.

While the business has been supporting the transport industry since the 1980s, 1996 marked the beginning of the company as it exists today, building on decades of expertise, dedication and innovation.

Most of our customers will now know us as TDi Software, a name we've evolved into since the implementation of digital tachographs and the ever developing changes that technology brings to the industry. Over the years we've brought customers new products and software to help them embrace new data that technology now brings to the industry, whilst maintaining reliable solutions, great customer service and outstanding customer support throughout.
