We keep seeing sustainability policies on websites… but the websites themselves are incredibly bloated.

And this applies to a huge range of organisations - including some that are sustainability-focused.

Users are getting savvier with what they expect, and increasingly they notice when there’s a mismatch between what organisations say and what their digital experiences actually do.

It can be pretty obvious. For example, if you have a huge video on your homepage, it's unlikely to be low-carbon.

If 78% of consumers think sustainability is important but they don't see evidence of that, they might choose to go elsewhere.

Sustainability isn’t just about policies and pledges. It’s also about performance, efficiency, and making smarter choices online.

If sustainability is part of your organisation, your website should reinforce it - not undermine it.

Downtime is rarely the first sign something’s wrong with your hosting. It’s the final one.

Most websites give you warnings long before they go offline - you might just not always recognise them as hosting issues.

And by the time it’s urgent, it’s expensive.

If you haven’t reviewed your hosting setup in the last 12 months, it might be time for a full review.

Most WordPress sites don’t get complex overnight.

They grow like this:

1. Need something.
2. Search.
3. Install a plugin.

No discussion. Just “this will save time”.

Plugins aren’t the problem. Autopilot is.

Every plugin adds code, maintenance, potential security risk and performance impact. One decision feels small. But fifty of them aren’t.

Before you click install, pause and ask:

- Do we really need this?
- Is it actively maintained?
- Are recent reviews solid?
- Are there any known security issues?

How often do you notice when a website has a great user experience? Probably not that often.

Most of us only really pay attention when something feels off. It might be a confusing form, a slow page, or a button that doesn't do what you expect.

Friction stands out, while good user experience is just part of the background.

When UX is done well, it feels invisible. Tasks are completed without effort. Information is easy to find. Nothing pulls focus, is confusing or causes frustration. You get what you need and move on.

For us, that is exactly what we set out to achieve. Our job is not to impress users with clever features or flashy design. It is to remove obstacles, reduce cognitive load, and design experiences that feel natural, accessible, and reliable.

Because the best compliment a website can get is this: nobody had to think about it at all.

You're on the train. One hand holding the pole, the other on your phone.

Headphones are in, blocking out the noise.
Patchy signal.
Bright lights.
Constant movement.

And you're trying to fill out a form, send a message, share a post but it's not easy.

This isn’t an “edge case”.
This is normal, everyday usage.
Situational barriers like these are exactly why accessibility benefits everyone:

• Clear hierarchy helps when you’re distracted
• Large tap targets help when you’ve only got one hand
• Good contrast helps in dark or shining lights
• Simple language helps when you’re distracted
• Fast, resilient pages help on poor connections

Accessibility isn’t just about permanent disabilities.

It’s about designing for real people, in real conditions, living real lives. Designing accessibly means your website works anywhere, not just at a desk on perfect Wi-Fi.

And that’s better UX for everyone.
