Washington FC 1–4 Consett AFC Reserves 💙🤍

A deserved 4–1 victory on the road against a good Washington FC side who never stopped competing.

We got off to the perfect start when Harry Clark rose highest to head home from a Billy Browell corner.

Washington rallied and levelled the game, but the lads responded brilliantly.

CJ Baker gave us the lead again, intercepting a back pass after excellent pressing from Calvin Smith before keeping his composure to finish.

Just three minutes later, Harry Clark grabbed his second in spectacular fashion. Picking the ball up in midfield, Harry strode forward before unleashing an absolute rocket into the top corner with his left foot. 🚀

We continued to create chances after the break and got our fourth when CJ Baker turned in an Alex Hall cross-shot to complete his brace.

We had chances that we could and should’ve taken to make the game more comfortable, but overall a really strong performance on the road.

A new season, a new pitch… but the same goal.

After a positive pre-season, Consett AFC Reserves are looking forward to getting their 2026/27 Wearside League Division 2 campaign underway this Saturday as we welcome Spennymoor Town Youth to Belle View Stadium.

Our visitors have built a reputation for producing talented young players and arrive with an energetic, technically gifted squad that will provide a tough first test. They’ll be looking to start the season with three points just as much as we are, so it promises to be an entertaining afternoon.

There could also be a first competitive look at a number of our new signings, with several additions set to be included in the matchday squad, they will be looking to make an immediate impact in a Consett shirt.
