Today we published our Strategic Plan 2026-29, covering our upcoming expanded remit, and our Business Plan 2026-27, focusing on delivery over the next year.

We are setting an ambitious course over the next 3 years with the release of our new strategic plan. Our plans mark the significant expansion of our remit, as we prepare to regulate premises for the first time under Martyn’s Law, alongside our existing responsibilities over private security. This will see the SIA play an enhanced role in the regulation of the UK’s protective security landscape.

Our purpose, to keep people and places safe and secure by regulating the private security industry and venues across the UK, will be at the forefront of everything we do.

On 1 June 2026 we are changing some of the fees that we charge for our licensing and approval services.

These changes will affect approved contractors and individuals applying for an additional licence.

📢 SIA prosecution secures over £5000 in financial penalties

On 28th April 2026 at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, security company director Paul Thomson pleaded guilty to knowingly deploying Daniel Almond-Farrant, who was also prosecuted, as an unlicensed keyholder.

Mr Thomson and his company, Cambridge Security Services Ltd, were given financial penalties totalling £4,100 together. While Mr Almond-Farrant was ordered to pay £1,540.

“These two men, through their company, knowingly decided to break the law for their own gain. This put the premises they were contracted to protect, and as a result those working within, at risk." Jenny Hart, our Criminal Enforcement Manager said.

| We're looking forward to today's celebrations to mark Coventry City FC returning to the Premier League.

Here’s the route your sky blues will be taking later on.

Estimated route timings for the parade are:

• Depart Coventry Building Society Arena at 1pm, travelling south on Jimmy Hill Way
• Holbrook Way → right onto Holbrook Lane (approx. 1:20pm)
• Left onto Parkgate Road → join Beake Avenue (approx. 1:45pm)
• Down Beake Avenue → Bruce Road → Wallace Road (approx. 2:05pm)
• Norman Place Road → left onto Hollyfast Road (approx. 2:20pm) → Westhill Road
• Down Barkers Butts Lane (approx. 2:30pm) → right onto Moseley Avenue
• Cross Holyhead Road (approx. 2:45pm) → Four Pounds Avenue → Queensland Avenue (just before 3pm)
• Public parade concludes at Hearsall Common (approx. 3:05pm)
