The black strips are residue from the adhesive holding the battery in. It’s an absolute nightmare to remove and it has to done with extreme caution so as not to damage the logic board.

27" iMac upgrade. This particular iMac belongs to a business client who uses the machine every day, he is self-employed so it's been a workhorse. It started to slow down and become unresponsive, constantly getting the Apple spinning wheel, it became unusable in the end, taking minutes to process the simplest of tasks and over 20 minutes to boot into the OS.

The internal 3TB rotary drive was swapped out for a 4TB Solid-State hard drive and recovered from a recent backup. The new drive was mounted in a 3.5" caddy, the adhesive seal strips were replaced and the screen was carefully replaced.

It now takes just under ten seconds to get to the login screen and all the apps start at lightning speed, this is one of the best upgrades for any iMac with an older-style rotary drive, it's like a new machine.

Apple has discovered a serious security vulnerability than affects newer iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch and Macs that could potentially allow attackers to take complete control of the devices.
The models affected are as follows:-

iPhones 6S and later models
several models of the iPad, including the fifth generation and later
all iPad Pro models and the iPad Air 2
Apple Watch
Mac computers running MacOS Monterey
Some iPod models.

How to get the latest security patch:-
Tap on settings
Go to General
Then tap on Software Update
