🎮 GTA 6 IS COMING — IS YOUR PS5 READY? 🔥

I’m putting this out a few months early for a reason! When GTA 6 lands, I’m expecting a big surge of PS5s needing serviced, so I’d rather get as many sorted beforehand than have everyone booking in at once 😂

If your PS5 is a few years old and has never been serviced, now’s a good time to get it done.

"It's never the oscillator… until it is." 😂🔬

Bit of an unusual one on the bench today — a completely dead iPhone 13.

Connected it to the DC power supply and hit the power button…

0.000A. Absolutely nothing.

No initial current draw, no attempt to boot, no obvious short. Power button was ruled out and I even started looking towards the NAND side of things.

The culprit?

The oscillator.

A fault that can easily send you down the wrong diagnostic path because the phone simply gives you nothing to work with. With the clock missing, the startup sequence wasn't even getting off the ground.

Oscillator replaced and the iPhone was brought back to life. ✅

Another reminder that with board-level repair, sometimes the smallest component can leave an entire device completely dead.

🎮 PS5 HDMI Replacement + Full Service

This PS5 was originally booked in for an HDMI port replacement, but once we opened the console, we spotted another issue that needed attention.

The heatsink had developed a significant amount of oxidisation, which can reduce effective heat transfer and prevent the cooling system from working as efficiently as it should.

Over time, excessive operating temperatures can lead to performance issues, instability and potentially premature APU failure. In fact, prolonged overheating is something we suspect may contribute to some of the APU failures we see on these consoles.

This is exactly why we don't just repair the fault you booked it in for and send it back out the door.

🔧 Every console booked in for repair receives a full internal service as part of the repair cost.

That means while it's apart, we'll inspect the cooling system, remove dust and contamination, check for anything else that could cause problems and make sure the console leaves us in the best condition possible.

No additional service charge. No cutting corners.

Over the last while I've noticed a big increase in mail-in repairs from both returning clients and new customers.

I've been running Repair Rehab for almost 10 years now, and one thing I've never really done is pay for advertising or constantly push posts. I've always believed that if you do honest, high-quality work and look after people, word of mouth will do the rest.

Thankfully, that belief has paid off.

It's incredible to now be receiving repairs from all over Ireland, with even a growing number of customers and businesses sending devices over from England.

Back from a well-earned holiday and it's been non-stop ever since! 🔧

I haven't had much chance to keep the page updated, so here's a selection of some of the repairs completed over the last few weeks.

From complex microsoldering and motherboard repairs to HDMI port replacements, charging faults, no power issues, data recovery, and rescuing devices after botched repair attempts, it's been a busy few weeks in the workshop.

Hi everyone! 👋

Just a quick heads-up that I'll be away on holiday with the family from Friday 3rd July and will be returning to work on Monday 13th July.

Another interesting one in the workshop this week 👨‍🔧

This £10k tattoo laser machine came in with no display. The manufacturer's answer? Replace the machine... 😳

After digging into it, I found a short on the backlight circuit, but that wasn't the only problem. The fault had also taken out several display lines, so there was no image at all.

A bit of board-level fault finding and component repair later, and the machine is back up and running as it should.

These aren't cheap machines, and as far as I'm aware, nobody is really repairing these at component level. Most manufacturers just recommend replacing the whole thing, which can cost a fortune.

Glad to save another customer from an unnecessary £10k bill 💪

Friday = Data Recovery Day 🔧💾

Just wrapped up a successful data recovery on a Samsung device that required a full motherboard swap to bring the data back.

Most people don't see the hours that go into this type of work. Fridays are usually my dedicated data recovery days, which often means working until stupid o'clock and into the early hours of Saturday morning.

When photos, videos, contacts, and important files are on the line, there's no rushing the process. Every recovery is different, and sometimes it takes a lot of patience, precision, and late nights to get the best possible result.

Another happy customer and another set of memories saved. 👍
