Hey everyone! 👋

I just wanted to give you a heads up about next week. I hadn't announced this previously, but I will be taking off as I will be getting married! 🎉 👰🤵‍♂️ 🎉

Starting from Wednesday, I'll be temporarily closed. I can't pinpoint the exact duration yet, but I'm planning to enjoy a few days with my soon-to-be wife. If all goes smoothly, I aim to reopen the following Wednesday (8th May), but I'll keep you posted if there are any changes to the plan. During this time, I might not be checking messages as often, so please bear with me.

To avoid any last-minute crises, this is the final call to get those repairs in before the big day. If there's anything that needs fixing, reach out to me as soon as you can. Slots are filling up fast, and I want to make sure I can help as many of you as possible before I step away.

As always, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support, for choosing me as your go-to repair guy, and for spreading the word to others! Your support means the world to me.

Thanks,
Phil - PB Phone Repairs

Hey everyone.

I know it's really tempting and all, but please do not attempt to fix your own stuff if you've never fixed a device before. The pictures here show a PS5 that was brought to me for a new HDMI port after a DIY repair attempt and this thing came agonisingly close to becoming a £600 paperweight.

I know there are videos on YouTube showing various repairs, hell I even watch some of them myself to avoid nasty surprises on newer devices, but these are not intended as educational videos. They skip a lot of crucial details and without the experience of knowing what was left out and without the proper tools for the job you might make your problems even worse, like this person did.

The repair in question is something I would not attempt myself, despite nearly 15 years of hands-on experience so credit to Repair Rehab, your local microsoldering expert, for making the save.

Please, save yourself money in the long run. Just bring it to somebody who knows what they are doing.

Phil

P.S. Don't use vaseline as soldering flux. Ever.

Buying technology can get super expensive, especially when buying new items just after they’re released.

A great example if ever there was one of why you should not try to charge a water damaged phone.

On this occasion, this person was very lucky that this pin burned out and knocked out supply to the phone's main board, as the water could've ended up doing a lot more damage.

Remember that the "rice trick" CAN NOT draw water out from the inside of a phone and really just creates more problems than it solves!

Anyway, the phone has now been cleared of all signs of water and returned to its owner, ready to charge again ⚡👌
