The Witches' Brew of environmental collapse is increasingly showing scientists' predictions being out by orders of magnitude. As a trend analyst, I would say this phenomenon is indicating an emerging trend.

Alarming new research suggests warm seawater is rushing under the ice, perhaps doubling the rate of melting.

current glacier melt models don’t account for a phenomenon called tidal pumping. Whenever the tide rises, it heaves Thwaites’ ice sheet upward, allowing relatively warm seawater to rush farther upstream underneath the glacier. That drives melting along its belly, making the ice sheet more prone to fracture. “It means that warm water that is at the bottom of the glacier can infiltrate up to several kilometers upstream,” says University of Houston physicist Pietro Milillo, who is studying Antarctic glaciers.

Our skillset combines the traditional intelligence gathering and compilation methodology, called content analysis, with the very latest database management techniques and cloud-based technologies.

We use a process designed to eliminate the 'voice' of the analyst, with the aim of communicating more directly what our information sources are saying.

Our aim is to be
· Depersonalised - It is not our job to decide who or what is right and wrong, but rather to study the characteristics of information flows, as they change over time. We look for the meaning and significance of changing patterns in the flow.
· Disinterested - Professional ethos and strictly regulated processes separate personal views and biases from the work.
· De-specialised - Overarching views are taken including many different sciences, professions and interest groups which enable new links to be made and unseen relationships understood.
· Transparent - A defined, auditable and repeatable process.

DATABASE OF ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE RELEASED

Here is the first public release of The Database of Environmental Change. It is a collection of 70,000 key articles, consistently classified over the last five years at a rate of about 50 articles a day.

If you want to drill down further into any topic covered in this group or see how one topic relates to another, it is designed to show you what you need to know without trying to influence you to subscribe to any agendas or ideologies. The goal is to present you with enough easily accessible evidence for you to make up your own mind.

Please understand that this is work in progress which is why we are only releasing it here to begin with. We literally do not know how it will perform with more than a small handful of users. In the next couple of days, I shall be uploading two or three very short videos about how the Context Bar works, how context combines automatically with Search and how to see relationships between contexts.

And please accept apologies in advance for any glitches or hang-ups, and please report them in the Facebook user group, Database of Environmental Change, so we can correct them.
