Kurt Kuempel, VP of US cleaning company GSF in www.buildings.com believes that the four greatest challenges in hygiene that FM Managers face - whether using in-house teams or outsourced, are:
1 - Lack of consistency between cleaning shift teams and individuals and no common quality standard of cleaning, or use of equipment and products.
2 - Client concerned over the infection and the need to prioritize high touch areas and reduce wasteful, unnecessary cleaning.
3 - Attracting better cleaning talent by the role of promoting efficiency, safety, sustainability, and career development, making cleaning more dynamic, successful, and rewarding.
4 - Stopping aging, damaged, or difficult to operate equipment means staff use alternative methods of cleaning which impacts consistency and safety, unless effectively monitored.
Work smarter, not harder is the key
While hard work is commendable, to limit burnout, lapses in cleanliness and the risk of injuries and illness, it is important to work smarter.
Targeted, effective cleaning, correctly assigned using smart workplace hygiene technology, promotes best practices and quality, consistent cleaning performance.
This in turn reduces infection risk and makes cleaning teams work more dynamic, more enjoyable, and perform to higher cleaning quality standards.
