Almost one month to go until the Cullercoats Festival. Get involved. It’s going to be great!
We are delighted to announce that local treasure Ray Laidlaw has generously agreed to come and open the Cullercoats Festival on 13th June 2026. The opening will be at 10.30 am.
Ray tells us:
I was born in Tynemouth and live there now. My first venture into entertainment was as a drummer, I joined my first group in North Shields in 1962. I’ve been playing drums in groups ever since, one of them, Lindisfarne, became quite popular. I’m very happy to say that I played on every one of the hits. Back in the early days I was the only one who could be bothered to phone the gigs, keep the diary etc. That set a pattern and over the years I have managed artistes, owned a studio and music publishing company and produced TV shows and events for BBC, the Teenage Cancer Trust, The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and many more.. Since 2006 I’ve produced the Sunday for Sammy shows and hope to continue for a while longer.
I love living at the coast and I’m absolutely delighted to have been invited to open the Cullercoats Festival. Have a wonderful day everyone.
See you at the Festival.
