The busiest person in a phone free school might be the receptionist.
Think about how many communication requests pass through the school office every day.
A student has forgotten their PE kit.
A parent needs to let their child know collection arrangements have changed.
A student has missed the bus.
Someone isn't feeling well.
Someone needs to get a message home.
Individually, they're all small things.
But across hundreds or thousands of students, they create a huge amount of administration.
That's one of the challenges schools are facing as they move towards phone-free environments.
Because while reducing distraction is important, communication still needs to work.
The schools getting this right aren't just removing phones.
They're looking at how students, parents and staff communicate more efficiently.
That's where we believe the conversation is heading.
Not simply phone-free schools.
Better communication systems for phone-free schools.
