Expert WordPress development since before WordPress was a thing.

We started building websites in 1998. WordPress didn't turn up until 2003, so we came to it as developers first and WordPress people second.

That still shows in the work. When a site needs something the plugins can't quite manage, a proper custom structure, an integration with a system the client already runs, or performance that holds up under real load, we write the code for it.

Plenty of sites don't need that, and we'll say so if yours doesn't. Some do, and those are the ones we're built for.

And if you're a designer or a marketing team sitting on a project that's outgrown off-the-shelf, we're happy to work quietly behind the scenes as the development side of it.

New work up on the site.

The National Partnership for Ocean Prediction is a Met Office-led consortium — six partner organisations including the National Oceanography Centre, Plymouth Marine Lab and Cefas — coordinating the UK's marine and ocean prediction research.

We ran a brand workshop, built the identity guide, then built the platform behind it: core teams across all six organisations publishing independently, large-file document storage, workshop and event registration, all on Velocity Bolt hosting.

Our new website scores 100 out of 100.

velocityweb.co.uk on Google PageSpeed Insights — 100 for performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO on desktop. On mobile it sits at 95–98 for performance and 100 for the rest (that figure moves between runs — that's the tool, not the site).

There's no plugin that gets you there. It's a few hundred small decisions made correctly: how images are sized and served, what loads when, which scripts earn their place on the page, what happens in the first fraction of a second.

And it doesn't mean a stripped-back site. Ours is WordPress, fully content-managed.

It matters because someone on their phone leaves a slow site and never tells you why. And because Google has been measuring this and ranking on it for years.

The new Catch at the Old Fish Market website is live.

A sea-to-plate restaurant on Weymouth's Custom House Quay, in a landmark building on a working harbour. The Weymouth fleet lands the catch directly outside — as they put it, most of their food miles are measured in feet and inches. Chef Patron Ben Champkin builds the menus around whatever the boats and the seasons deliver, with produce from Meadows, their own micro-farm and kitchen gardens.

They won the Sustainable Business Award (SME) at the Cateys this year, with the judges pointing to their traceability, their whole-fish philosophy and their sourcing direct from Weymouth's under-ten-metre day boats. The Telegraph gave them five stars last year.

A site like this has one job: get out of the way of the food and the setting, and make booking a table effortless. Built in WordPress and Bricks, on our performance stack.

Worth the drive to Weymouth.
