The UK government has laid out clear guidelines to ensure that public sector websites, including those of schools, are accessible to individuals with disabilities by 2018. However, many still aren't, even newly developed websites.
These guidelines are part of the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018, which extend the obligations under the Equality Act 2010. By September 23, 2018, public sector bodies were required to ensure their websites meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This means that educational institutions must make reasonable adjustments to their digital platforms to prevent discrimination against disabled users.
