An existing customer extended their building, moved the comms rack and now needed an improved connection.
The previous 5G system we installed a couple of years ago was no longer able to deliver the best possible performance. It relied on coaxial cables connecting the external antenna to an indoor 5G router, and these cables introduce signal loss, reducing the strength and quality of the 5G connection.
Due to the 10-metre maximum length of the coaxial cables, the external 5G antenna could not be installed in the optimal location for receiving the strongest 5G signal. In this case, the cable had also been extended by a further 5 metres, which resulted in even greater signal loss and further reduced performance.
It was therefore time to replace with a new high-performance 5G antenna installed in an optimal location for the best signal. This required a 70 meter Ethernet cable run from the comms rack to the optimal position for the combined 5G modem and antenna.
Due to this customers requirement for high-availability we have used eSIM and configured SIM switching in the event of a network outage on the primary network.
Network speeds are impressive on the primary network; ~450Mbps download and ~150Mbps upload!
