“Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles“

Sony says physical disc production will end. As a lifelong gaming enthusiast, I find that deeply concerning, and I’m not alone.

This is a fatal blow to consumer choice. It will kill the second-hand physical games market, removing the ability to buy, trade, and resell at lower prices, and will push everyone towards a digital-only future where we do not truly own what we buy. Sony can increase prices, remove content, or revoke access any time, while also removing competitors. We have already seen how fragile digital ownership can be when Sony recently removed hundreds of previously purchased films from users’ digital libraries after its licensing agreement with the distributor ended.

I’ve been a PlayStation fan for over 30 years, but this is a line in the sand. If the digital-only future means renting games that can be taken away at a moment’s notice, and can never be shared, traded, or preserved, then I want no part of it. This has been a wake-up call, and my eyes are wide open.

We desperately need legal consumer protection put in place to protect our ownership, access, and preservation of the games we buy. In the meantime, I refuse to buy any new PlayStation games unless they are available on disc, with all the game data included. If this means that I miss out on playing the upcoming GTA 6, then so be it. Sadly, in light of all this, the PS5 will probably be the last console that I own for the foreseeable future.

Can't make up your mind about that next purchase? Just chat with Norton Neo. Tell it your preferences and then ask it to compare your open tabs. The results may surprise you. 🪄✨

Prompt:

“Please help me decide which UK music subscription service is best for me. I don't like AI-generated music. I would rather hear music from genuine, human artists. Loseless audio would be nice, but not if it bumps up the price. I also need to be able to stream music to my Echo Dot via the Alexa app, so it needs to be compatible with that. Compare the selected tabs and give me a comparison table, along with your final recommendation.”

I’ve just joined the Norton Neo Ambassador programme! 🎉

As a tech enthusiast, my browser isn’t just a window to the web; it’s a key part of my workstation. Arc Browser (by The Browser Company) is my current daily driver. It offers a great user experience for productivity tasks, but lacks integrated AI features. Norton Neo, on the other hand, is the new kid on the block and has been built from the ground up with privacy and integrated AI in mind. It runs AI locally and stores your data in the browser on your computer, away from prying eyes. Complex tasks that get sent to the cloud for processing are anonymised in transit and never stored in the cloud.

Neo also learns and evolves with you, remembering your preferences and past conversations to give you quick, tailored responses.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be putting Neo through its paces. Can it truly replace Arc? We shall see. 🤔

What web browser do you love using the most, and why?

Give Neo a try (see link in bio). 🌐

And just like that, we’re in 2026! 😲🎉

On my personal to-do list are:

🟢 Getting fit in my 50s with daily mobility exercises and a return to martial arts training
🟢 Ditching my two Chunky Kitkats a day habit and eating better
🟢 Improving my Italian and French to a conversational level.

Happy New Year! 🙌🥳🎉🍾✨ What are you aiming for this year?
