A little clarification from us;

We never expected to have to make a video like this, but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and your business.

We’re a small, family-run business, and we work incredibly hard to look after our customers and do things properly. We’re not going to get involved in a public argument, but we also won’t sit quietly while false allegations are made about us.

We’ve said what we need to say. The rest will be dealt with through the appropriate channels.

💚 A little update from us...🖤

Ctrl Alt Fix is a small husband-and-wife business and like many families, we're navigating a few personal challenges behind the scenes at the moment. We're still working hard every day, but replies and repairs may take a little longer than usual while we catch up.

We just wanted to say thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support. Every message, booking, recommendation and share genuinely means the world to us.

We promise we'll never rush a repair just to clear the queue. We'd rather take a little longer and do the job properly than cut corners.

🔧 Right to Repair in 2026 (July 31st): What It Means for Phone Repairs in the UK

The way mobile phone repairs are carried out in the UK is changing for the better.

New laws are making it easier for independent repair shops and customers to access replacement parts, repair information, and longer-lasting manufacturer support.

If you've been putting off repairing a cracked screen or replacing a worn-out battery, 2026 could be the year to do it.

✅ What's Changing?

🇬🇧 UK Regulations

Since June 2025, manufacturers are now expected to:

✅ Keep spare parts available for up to 7 years

✅ Provide software updates for at least 5 years

✅ Supply repair manuals and diagnostic information to professional repairers

🇪🇺 EU Right to Repair

From 31 July 2026, even more changes are taking effect.

These include:

✅ Fairer repair options

✅ Greater transparency from manufacturers

✅ Fewer restrictions on independent repair shops

Although this is EU legislation, many global manufacturers are expected to apply these changes across all markets—including the UK.

📱 The End of Part Pairing?

One of the biggest changes affects something called Part Pairing.

Previously, replacing a screen or battery could trigger annoying warning messages or disable certain features simply because the replacement part wasn't electronically matched to the phone.

The new rules are designed to stop manufacturers using software to discourage independent repairs.

That's a huge win for both repair shops and customers.

A few days ago, a fake 1-star review popped up on an unverified Trustpilot page under my business name from an "Angel-Lina"—someone we have absolutely zero record of ever doing business with. It's already under formal investigation by Trustpilot for removal.
But let’s be real about why this is happening: We are disrupting the standard repair industry, and greedy competitors don't like it. 😉

While other shops charge massive, inflated markups, we do things entirely differently:
🔹 Transparency First: The parts listed on our site are priced at actual cost. No hidden fees, no predatory markups.
🔹 Lifetime Warranty: We stand by our work. If any part we fit has even a slight issue down the line, we replace it completely free. No questions asked.
🔹 Industry Disruption: Because we’ve called out the broken pricing models in this industry, our consumer-first approach has gained serious traction.

In fact, I’ve been invited down to London as a guest speaker to talk about changing the repair industry for the better! When you call out the status quo, trolls and angry competitors resort to fake reviews to try and slow you down. But we aren't going anywhere.

Real talk for a second 👇
I get asked most days to match a price someone "was quoted" by another repairer — no name, no proof, just "can you do it for less."
Truth is, Ctrl Alt Fix already sits at the cheaper end for the area — £30–£50 for servicing and quick fixes, from £50 for HDMI repairs, with board-level work quoted fairly after proper diagnosis. Every cost is agreed before anything starts.
This isn't a side hustle I can afford to slash further. It's a one-man, home-run business — every fair price I quote is what keeps the lights on for my family. When I price a job, that's parts, tools, time, and years of getting good enough to trust myself on a £400+ board.
I'll always be upfront and fair. But I won't race someone's unverified "mate's quote" to the bottom — especially when I'm already cheaper than most.

Every board reflow, every UART diagnostic session, every thermal paste job you see on this page is done by me, on my bench, in Rochdale.
Yeah, I use tools to help run the business — same as any repair shop uses diagnostic software, or any tradesperson uses modern kit. But the actual fixing? That's hands, solder, and a lot of late nights getting it right. No AI is swapping your GDDR6 chips or reflowing a GPU for you. 😅
