Has AI made creative work better… or just faster? 🤔

The answer isn't simple. While AI has given us speed, scale, and accuracy, we still need to remember that humans are still intrinsic to the creative process. Here are the trade-offs we shouldn't ignore, along with some food for thought.

⚠️ The em-dash dilemma
The em-dash, once a perfectly legitimate and useful form of punctuation, now feels “risky” because it's overused by AI and therefore might look like generated text.
👍 Counterbalance: Punctuation is becoming a creative choice again, rather than a habit, and distinctive voice is more valuable than ever.

⚠️ AI-generated imagery
Ever looked at an AI image and thought, "hello uncanny valley"? Let's face it, AI visuals can feel cheap, repetitive, or even downright unnerving (even if they are technically impressive).
👍 Counterbalance: It’s encouraging visual experimentation, giving artists faster ways to test ideas and explore styles that they can then add their own distinctive flair to.

⚠️ Automation flattening creativity
Less friction can sometimes mean less creative struggle. And that resistance is often where unexpected ideas and Bob Ross-style happy accidents emerge.
👍 Counterbalance: On the upside, when the “niggly” tasks (like cutting objects out of images for transparent backgrounds) are handled for you, more time is unlocked for ideation and experimentation.

⚠️ Personality dilution and lack of nuance
AI-assisted writing can unintentionally smooth out individuality. Everything starts sounding… correctly written, but slightly interchangeable. At the same time, it flattens the small details that give writing depth and texture.
👍 Counterbalance: It exposes creators to a broader range of ways to express the same idea, helping them break out of habitual voice patterns.

💡Key takeaway: AI is undeniably powerful for productivity, but it can't replace the human fingerprint. Tools can assist, but meaning still comes from us ✨

Ever wondered why some brands show up in AI answers and others don’t? 🤖

Search is shifting from links to AI-generated answers, and your visibility depends on understanding how it works.

That’s exactly what we built GeekyIQ for. It's a Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) workflow platform designed to help you understand and improve your visibility in AI-driven search.

Here’s the quick breakdown:

⚡GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation)
Optimising content to appear in AI answers, summaries, and recommendations.

⚡AI Overviews
Instant AI summaries shown in search results, pulling insights from trusted sources

⚡Citation
When AI references your content. This is the new form of ranking

⚡Prompt
The question users ask AI, shaping the answers they see

💡 Bottom line:
If you want to be found in AI search, you need to think in prompts, not just keywords.

OMG 😆 Somewhere between 'SEO' and 'AI', marketing turned into a secret society of initialisms and Jargon with a capital J. It's a lot to remember.🫨 Don't worry if you don't know everything. (Half the time we’re just nodding confidently and hoping no one asks us to explain 🤫)

This May the 4th, we’re celebrating the only thing bigger than our love of Star Wars: our bewilderment of digital marketing abbreviations, fancy boardroom Jargon, and overused terms that make everyone cringe (top offenders right now: synergistic, disruptor, world-class, data-driven 🤢 ) 🤓🛸

P.S. If you want a slightly less chaotic tour of the ones that actually matter right now, we break down the key players in episode 4.2 of SEO Unfiltered 🎧 https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0v0Hqp0

May the 4th be with you ✨⭐️🚀

Want your content to rank higher and get cited by AI?

✅ DO organise links around topics
✅ DO link to your authority signals (case studies, data, expert bios)
❌ DON’T use generic or keyword-stuffed anchors like “click here”
❌ DON’T link randomly without topical relevance

Every good link has the power to boost your authority. Every weak link can also dilute it. Fun fact: Pages with strong internal link clusters are 3x more likely to be cited by AI overviews than orphaned pages.

👉 Swipe through the infographic for the full breakdown and start strengthening your internal link strategy today!

Let's face it, the way you interlink your pillar content is vital for strong SEO and GEO. But do you know the best structure to achieve this?

Here's how we build high-performing blog ecosystems that boost your visibility 👇

🔗 Build a Clear Pillar Page
Your pillar = the mothership (your main source of authority). It should cover a broad topic in depth and naturally link out to more detailed cluster posts.

🔗 Create Supporting Cluster Content
Each supporting blog should:
• Target a specific long-tail keyword
• Dive deeper into one subtopic
• Link BACK to the pillar page (this is crucial)

🔗 Use Intentional Internal Linking
Don’t just link randomly! Be strategic:
• Pillar → links to all cluster pages
• Cluster pages → link back to pillar
• Cluster pages → cross-link where contextually relevant

This creates a network that both search engines and those all important AI models can actually understand.

🔗 Use Anchor Text Wisely
Quite frankly, generic anchors like “click here” are wasted opportunity.

Instead:
• Use keyword-rich, natural phrases
• Reflect search intent
• Keep it human-first

🔗 Update Links Regularly
Internal linking isn’t a “one-and-done” kinda task...

With every new blog post you should:
→ Add links to existing content
→ Update older posts to point to the new one

This keeps your content ecosystem fresh and connected, which search and AI engines LOVE.

💡 Why this matters for SEO + GEO:
Search engines rank structure, not just content.
AI models map relationships, not just keywords.

✨ The moral of the story: The stronger your internal linking, the stronger your authority. If you want your content to work together to improve your SEO and GEO ranking, start with your internal linking strategy.
