The UK's own cyber security experts are telling businesses to slow down on AI, not speed up.

The National Cyber Security Centre's new guidance on agentic AI is clear: start small, keep AI on low-risk tasks, and get your basic security controls right before you switch anything on.

It's exactly what we'll be talking about at The Business Show in November. AI isn't the problem, rushing in without the right foundations is.

Do you use AI at work every day? Chances are, so does most of your team, official policy or not.

55% of people using generative AI have put sensitive data into it without realising the risk. It's rarely deliberate. Someone's in a rush, pastes a contract or a set of figures into a public tool to save ten minutes, and doesn't stop to think about where that data goes next, or whether it's being used to train the model behind the scenes.

The good news: this is one of the easiest risks in the business to close.

Humanoid robots are sprinting, boxing and playing football in Beijing this week. 🤖

The 2026 World Humanoid Robot Games has brought together more than 2,000 robots and 600+ teams across 30 sports and 20 real-world "work" tasks, from cleaning to sorting medicines.

Some are even said to be rewriting sprint records.

A Chinese humanoid robot ran 100 metres in 9.39 seconds in a preliminary heat at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Saturday, faster than the men's world record held by Jamaican sprinting great Usain Bolt.

Whatever you make of it, it's a striking reminder of how fast AI and automation are moving.

For most businesses, the lesson isn't "go and buy a robot." It's that the pace of change is only picking up, and the organisations that get their data and security foundations right now will be the ones ready to adopt the genuinely useful advances safely when they arrive.
