University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust – Clinical Governance Facilitator
Working within a small governance team responsible for the patient safety within the Care Group. This role consisted of helping named authors develop policies complying with Trust standards, aiding the design and populating of a leaflet template for distribution for reviews prior to ratification and assisting in the writing of reports for both internal and external shareholders. A key role within this job was helping managers investigate patient safety incidents which can evolve to a more in-depth investigation which required completion within tight timescales. I was also a representative for the Care Group at various departmental and Trust meetings to ensure key performance indicators were achieved and patient safety is pivotal to any changes in working practice and at the forefront of Trust activity. I was a key contact for any day-to-day queries which were generated through policy amends, leaflet design, investigation and patient safety incidents. I was also an integral part of the investigation processes for cases being investigated with external health agencies. I was point of contact for the key named investigators and ensured their queries were dealt with in a timely manner and the investigation ran smoothly.
Lancashire Care Foundation Trust – Memory Assessment Service
A team administrator for an increasing team that consisted of Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Psychologists, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Memory Assessment Nurses and trainees. The main tasks involved organising the diaries of the nurses and consultants, copy typing and audio typing of clinical letters which also included English as a second language, database management to ensure appropriate follow up appointments were booked and demographic changes were uploaded in a timely manner. Following a period of time within the Service I was promoted to Office Manager for the team I was working in. This entailed delegation of work to be completed, distribution of urgent tasks, annual leave requests, complaint handling and reporting of the resolution of complaints. I also had to attend other sites in the managers absences to cover staff shortages, sickness etc and ensure both offices were appropriately staffed and any disputes resolved. I also carried out regular supervision sessions with staff and appraisals.
