Apparently it’s 13 years ago I visited a new customer in the Surrey Hills

“It’s never really worked properly, we had it installed when we first moved in”

What Trade installed it, I never found out. I suspect he rode a horse

Digital Switch Over was done, they must have been watching Analogue snow / noise before then. They were on a low power relay, so were among the last to switch.

Two amps, power supply, passive splitters - Inc 3 stuffed daisy chained

It remains a Classic

Todays Old Tat in the stash - Pt 2

Sony JumboTron Tech

LDU 1515 Display Unit, 1998

This is a much later LED Modular Panel

Panels were built into Modular Frames. Simple locking mech gave easy access to swap out failed units.
Much lighter, less power hungry than earlier CRT Versions

Todays Old Tat in the stash

One Unit of a Sony JumboTron

If you went to a big sports event or concert in the 80s or early 90s, the BIG screen was probably a JumboTron

These are basically row up on row of tiny CRTs

Picked up a framed Magnavox LaserVision Ad from back in the day

Seems to be a lot of this kinda stuff about at the moment. Guess the old boys who were Collectors, Dealers or had shops, are popping off & their stashes are coming to market

Be a hell of a clearance when my time comes. Poor Mrs AVAV

Ive collected a few LaserDisc Interactive Games over the years

Only ever found one on CED

Now found a second & its on both LD & CED

Mystery Disc - Many Roads to Murder

Cluedo type game, Vidmax 1982
CAV with Auto Pause & Random Tracks

The CED version skips like a kangaroo, as you’d expect. I think it actually changes Track mid story. Making the game unplayable

Fairly basic, as you’d expect

Week at the Races is the other CED

New Arrival at AVAV Towers

My kinda thing, yep, Old Tat

Clock made from late 70s Burroughs Hard Disk Platter

Not sure if the Board is related, don’t care, I like it & its going on the Workshop Wall

It’s 13” & it’s a thing of beauty

It’s

Picked up something I’ve not seen before

Sony V-35 Video Tape Spool

Late 60s with Auto-threading Leader

5” Spool, 1/2” Tape, roughly 22 mins at 7 1/2” p/s

Hunch is for CV Skip Field. Poss EIAJ Cartridge, but why not just use a Pre Loaded Cartridge

Cartridges must be fully rewound before removing

Pic 4 is Panasonic EIAJ2, which use Cartridge’s. The Spool inside the Carts is exactly the same as this Spool. EIAJ2 is Colour, playable on EIAJ in B&W - most of the time

Tiny 32mm WORM Discs, for Music or Data. 500 MB

Didn’t hang round long, the pre-recorded titles are very rare. I’ve had Discs but not the Drives

Next to £1 coin for scale

WORM - Write Once Read Many. Like CD-R

Grundig EN3 Transcription Job

All done & Digitised. Tape contained a Wedding, Recorded in the late 60s. Treasured memories

These are very rare & I’ve only done a handful over the years

1965 Dictation System. 1/4” Tape. Double Sided Cartridge, approx 20 - 25 mins ish Run Time. I say “ish” as no two machines ran at the same speed & as its Rim Drive the speed varies as the Tape progresses.

We can Digitise & Recover most Dictation Formats, Inc Micro Cassette, Mini Cassette, Pico Cassette, EN3, Philips & Grundig Carts & Tapes, Dictabelts etc
