We had this Huwaei Laptop brought into us from local IT business Alan Arnold IT Services for a USB-C charge port replacement.
upon removing the old 'loose' port, all of the pads that connect it to the circuitry were completely ripped off of the board. We carefully exposed the traces leading to the ripped pads and, one by one, soldered tiny jump wires to the new port, coating the wires as we went to insulate them.
Jobs a good 'un!

Something a little different - We took a call asking whether we could replace a broken SD card slot on a PCB for a 3D printer - Sure!
We will carry out micro soldering for most requests with a fast turn around time.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 came in not turning on and not charging.
With the motherboard removed, and power applied on the bench, using an inline ammeter, it was taking just 5 volts and sucking up .400 milliamps, indicating something was shorted. Using thermal imaging the culprit lit up.
The IC in question is a buck converter for stepping down the voltage.
It was removed and replaced, giving us a fully functioning and charging laptop again.

M1 MacBook Air not charging or turning on. It was only taking 5 volts, where it ought be 20 volts.when
With the logic board removed and on the bench, power was applied to it under thermal imaging. The imaging showed a shorted CD3217 IC. For each USB-C port there is one of these chips. If one isn't working, the other(s) won't either as they must all communicate with each other.
The faulty chip was removed, another taken from a similar logicboard, the old solder removed, new solder balls applied, the chip was then soldered into place.
We now have 20 volts on both ports, with the Mac now charging and turning on again.

MacBook Pro not turning on.
On inspection a short was found on the audio circuit, which again is linked to the main power rail. On injecting 1 volt into the audio power rail, a bad capacitor lit right up. It was removed - The short now gone, and replaced. And we have a fully functional MacBook pro again. Apple had quoted an astronomical amount to replace the logicboard, which would have lost the customers data which was vital.
Why replace when it can be fixed?

This M1 MacBook came in with comprehensive liquid damage. Not charging, not turning on - Nothing. The worst area shown here is the speaker audio amplifier area, which is connected to PPBUS - The main power rail that supplies power to all the other power rails. All the corrosion was cleared, and some minor components were replaced. The left audio amp driver IC was totalled. It was removed, a replacement taken from a similar logic board, the solder from under it was removed with fresh solder balls applied. These are tiny at just 0.2mm!
And boom, a fully working MacBook Pro again.

16" MacBook Pro with no image to the screen. The fault was no backlight to the screen, with the logic board removed and close inspection revealed a cracked capacitor. The capacitor, along with the backlight driver IC were removed and replaced, restoring the image to the screen.

Beast of a 17" Alienware laptop that wasn't turning on. Nothing, no signs of life. On removing the motherboard, the main 19 Volt power rail was shorted. On injecting a low amount of voltage - 1 volt into the rail, it was sucking up a huge 5 amps. Using thermal imaging, a blown capacitor lit up like a Christmas tree. On removing it, the short was cleared, the cap was replaced, and we have a fully working gaming laptop again.
Don't replace your non-working tech - get it fixed. Better for your pocket and the environment!
