Design Tip Tuesday! 🎨

Want to create a feature wall that feels elegant rather than overwhelming?

Panel mouldings are a simple way to add depth, character and architectural detail to a room.

✨ Keep the proportions balanced – Larger walls can handle more panels, while smaller spaces often look better with fewer, larger sections.

✨ Plan your spacing – Keep the gaps between panels consistent for a polished, professional finish.

✨ Think about the height – Full-height panels can make a room feel taller, while dado-height panelling creates a more traditional look.

✨ Consider your colour – Painting the mouldings the same colour as the wall creates a sophisticated, seamless finish. For more contrast, choose a complementary shade.

The secret? It’s all about proportion. Take time to plan your layout before fitting, and your feature wall will feel intentional rather than busy.

Choosing the right cornice size can make a huge difference to the proportions of your room.

As a general guide:
✨ Lower ceilings → opt for a more subtle, smaller profile around 5-10cm in size
✨ Standard-height ceilings → a medium-sized cornice around 7-15cm in size usually works beautifully
✨ Higher ceilings → don’t be afraid to go larger and more decorative around 15cm+ in size

The key is to consider the overall proportions of the room, rather than simply choosing the largest profile available.

A well-proportioned cornice can add elegance, character and a beautifully finished look without overwhelming the space.

When you purchase samples, stick them up in place to gauge the size you need.

Design Tip Tuesday! 🎨

Think beyond the ceiling.

When people think of cornice, they usually picture the ceiling.

But some of the most creative designs use mouldings in unexpected ways.

Cornice can be used to create elegant curtain pelmets, wall features, hidden lighting details and bespoke architectural elements that add character throughout a room.

Sometimes it's worth looking at a product differently—you might discover a design solution you hadn't considered.

Design Tip Tuesday!🎨

Why designers love wall panelling.

Wall panelling isn't just about adding decoration.

It helps create balance, introduces texture and gives large walls a stronger sense of proportion.

Whether it's a feature wall, a hallway or a bedroom, panelling adds architectural interest without overpowering the space.

The best designs often rely on subtle details rather than bold statements.

Make your ceilings feel higher.

Want a room to feel taller without changing the structure?

Drawing the eye upwards is one of the oldest tricks in interior design.

Adding cornice creates a natural transition between the wall and ceiling, helping to frame the room and give it a more elegant, balanced appearance.

Combined with good lighting and a light colour palette, it can make a room feel brighter and more spacious.

A small detail that can completely change how a room feels.
