Police Drones, a Tactical Interception, and a Rammed Patrol Car: A £400k Recovery Thanks to TritonTrak.
Last Wednesday at 2:00am, thieves broke into the yard of a Lincolnshire-based surfacing company. By 4:30am, they had pulled off a massive heist, driving away with roughly £400,000 worth of machinery.
The stolen fleet was huge: a Scania lorry and lowloader trailer carrying a Vögele paver, a JCB dumper, and two Hamm rollers, closely followed by a Ford Ranger Wildtrak, an Ifor Williams trailer, and a JCB telehandler.
Moving cross-country, the thieves tried to cover their tracks by splitting up. They stashed half the equipment in a nearby field to “cool off,” while the lorry continued heading north up the motorway.
Fortunately, the customer had their equipment fitted with TritonTrak.
Using our live tracking data, police deployed a drone unit directly to the field coordinates, quickly securing the hidden machinery. At the same time, traffic officers closed in on the lorry carrying the paver and dumper, surrounding it at Wetherby Services.
The telehandler had gone rogue, splitting from the main convoy and headed to a local campsite. It was later tracked and after ramming a police car off the road, the machine was eventually brought to a halt, and the suspect was arrested on the spot.
