There's a lot of noise right now about AI in field service.
Most of it focuses on the technology. Not much of it focuses on the actual problem being solved.
The problem isn't that planners aren't smart enough to build a good schedule. It's that by 10am, the schedule they spent an hour building is already out of date. An engineer is running late. A job got cancelled. A priority reactive just came in.
AI scheduling doesn't replace the planner. It just means they're not manually rebuilding the afternoon every time something changes, which in most operations, is every day.
That's the part that actually matters.
