How we made £500 from the eclipse 🌑

To make sure that we were fully equipped to watch the eclipse at our company wide party yesterday evening, James (Chief Executive) bought over 100 eclipse glasses and then vibe coded a web app to sell the ones we didn’t need. After advertising the project on r/Liverpool, the glasses completely sold out in the early hours of the morning!

James built a Slack integration so it would notify us when people could “checked in” from their email booking to collect their glasses from the office, and we even set up a local delivery option on Stuart.

We already have an EDI Manager, why would we need external support for Disability Confident? ❌

Having an EDI Manager is a great starting point for becoming Disability Confident as they will understand your organisation inside out, however hiring an external consultant will bring so much additional value. They will bring an in-depth, specialised knowledge of the Disability Confident scheme, experience supporting a range of employers and an independent scrutiny to help identify barriers as well as opportunities for improvement.
