Our latest build has launched! 🚀

Mr. Sidewalk is a concrete company based in Houston, Texas. The owner came to us with a problem we expect to see more of as the digital landscape changes - the company's site was built by someone who used a lot of AI to build it and it was not getting any leads or contacts. It wasn't showing up in any searches. It had so many bells and whistles that the owner did not even know how to manage them all.

We proposed a stripped-back version of the website that eliminated the AI components that were unnecessary - for example, a chatbot - and doing a "staged launch" approach, that had us focus on getting a homepage online as fast as possible to bring business back in, and then building out the rest of the site. We focused on SEO from the start when we considered our design.

We are thrilled to say this approach worked - within a couple of days, the inquries and calls were rolling in and within a couple of weeks post-launch of the homepage, the owner was so busy with new work that he barely had time to create the content for the rest of the site! 😜 (hey, these are good problems to have!)

Everything got done in the end though, and we're thrilled with this launch and that we could make a difference for this wonderful business owner.

Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸 In the spirit of recycling (and being unable to top previous years' posts on this topic 😂) here are some fun facts about the of Old Glory, one of the most iconic flags in the world! 🌎

🇺🇸 There have been 27 (!) versions of the US flag. The first one had 13 stars and 13 stripes to represent the original 13 colonies. Every time a state joined the union, another star was added!

🇺🇸 The colors of the US flag have special meaning. 💙 Blue is for vigilance, perseverance and justice. ❤️ Red is for hardiness and valor. 🤍 White is for purity and innocence.

🇺🇸 The current flag design was created by a high school student! In 1958, 17-year-old Ohioan Robert G. Heft's entry was chosen by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

🇺🇸 The current flag design is the only one that has lasted more than 50 years! It was last changed when another star was added for Hawaii, who joined the union in 1959.

A phenomenal second day at ! We just had the best time and met amazing people from companies we already love! We also just had to get a photo with Zhorzh from SiteGround (a company we use and have recommended for years!) because he was hands-down our favorite person from Day 1! 😆

So much for us to unpack and digest about AI, SEO, accessibility and eCommerce over the coming days, but we can’t wait to share what we learned with all of you! 🙌🏼👩🏻‍💻✨🇵🇱

Lauren and Aisha are off to Kraków, Poland for ! ✈️🇵🇱

It's Star Mountain Design's first international conference and we couldn't be more excited to spend two days deep-diving into all things ! ✨

During this time, we're going to have limited access to our email, so unless it's an emergency, please hold fire until we're back to work (in the UK) on Monday, 8th June!
