📊 Last night, our network traffic told its own story.

Around 2-3:00am, we saw a noticeable spike in data usage across our network... and we think we all know why. 👀⚽

📶 Wi-Fi vs Internet: What's the Difference?

It's something we help customers with every day, and it's easy to see why the two get mixed up. In fact, many people have never really thought about them as being different things!

But understanding the difference can make troubleshooting much easier and help you identify what's really causing an issue.

🌐 Internet is the connection we provide to your property. This is the service that connects your home to the wider world.

📡 Wi-Fi is how your devices connect to that internet connection around your home, wirelessly. Wi-Fi performance can be affected by distance, walls, building materials, device capabilities, interference from other electronics and even where your router is positioned.

A few common examples:

✅ Wi-Fi issue:
* Devices work fine when connected by Ethernet cable, but not wirelessly.
* Wi-Fi signal drops in certain rooms.
* Speeds are great next to the router but slower upstairs.

✅ Internet issue:
* No devices can get online, including wired devices.
* Router / ONT shows a loss of connection.
* Multiple devices lose access at the same time.
