Creatomatic is a five star reviewed web & graphic design agency based in Lockerbie, Southern Scotland. We create forward-thinking and effective websites, branding and systems for businesses around the world. Founded in 2012 Creatomatic began life as a three-piece (Kit, James M & Chris) and we first flung open the doors of our initial home in an old butchers shop on Butts Street, Annan. Since then we've outgrown three offices, almost quadrupled in numbers and have now settled in nicely to a new, bigger spot in the centre of Lockerbie. We actively encourage an ethical business policy of transparency; collaboration; honesty; solid research, and an excellent employment ethos. With hundreds of happy clients worldwide and a clutch of awards, we’d say it seems to be working. We love what we do and hope that's evident in every project we deliver.

We're biased, but we 100% agree with National Geographic naming Dumfries and Galloway as one of the Best of the World destinations for 2027.

We work with some amazing clients in the region that provide some truly unique experiences for visitors to the area.

Just past the halfway point, and 2026 is shaping up nicely!

It’s been a year of solid work coming in for the team to get stuck into, great clients to work with, and time away from the desk at local events, connecting with others across the industry.

There’s plenty in the pipeline for the months ahead, with new projects already underway and a few team days out in the diary too.

We’re looking forward to what the second half of the year brings. 🙌

Meet our Junior Developer, Michael, otherwise known as Mikey!

Mikey's background isn't your typical route into web development. He spent his early career as a welder and fabricator before deciding to make the switch, spending his spare time studying and researching until the right opportunity came along.

He started out in the Creatomatic support team, picking up a solid understanding of how the industry works across a wide range of clients, before making the move into the build team where he now works as a Junior Developer. He'll be the first to tell you he wishes he'd made the move sooner.

In the studio, Mikey is always the one keeping the team laughing and the atmosphere light. In a busy workplace that counts for a lot, and we wouldn't have it any other way! Outside of work you'll find him enjoying the football, F1, and spending time with friends and family.

Introducing our very talented graphic designer, Rosie.

A Cumbrian by roots and a Leeds Arts University graduate, she spent time building her experience in the industry before joining the Creatomatic team in 2024.

She's known since school that she wanted to do something creative, but graphic design wasn't even on her radar until college. If you were to have told university-Rosie that she'd end up designing websites, she wouldn't have believed you. Now she can't imagine doing anything else.

Outside of work, her ideal weekend starts with a herbal tea and a few pages of her book in a TentBox somewhere in the Lake District. From there it's off to track down a new wild swimming spot, ideally one that takes a bit of effort to reach and is cold enough to make you question your life choices. Rosie is also a qualified yoga teacher so at least the warm up is sorted!

Her advice to her younger self sums her up pretty well: everything you need is already on its way. If you don't have it yet, you don't need it yet. A pretty good philosophy for life, really!

We have been doing a legacy client audit this week, and it has turned into something of a feel-good moment.

Sites that are eight, ten, thirteen years old. A few that even pre-date Creatomatic, from Kit's early freelance days. All still live. All still performing.

In an industry that loves to talk about rebuilds and redesigns, quietly maintaining sites that just keep working year after year feels like the real measure of quality.

It comes down to three things for us: building with longevity in mind from day one, taking server infrastructure seriously (a great site on a poorly managed server does not last long), and genuinely caring about the work long after launch day.

Thirteen years is a long time in digital. We will take it!

Say hello to our Co-Owner/Director, James!

James’ background is a mishmash of IT, sales and marketing. He’s an ideas guy, with a never-ending stream of ways we can do things differently (often to Kit’s torment). Outside of work he’s busy juggling family life with various hazardous hobbies like mountain bikes and snowboards. All the stereotypical ‘web guy’ stuff.

He’s happiest either right in the middle of a chaotic, 100 ideas a minute strategy session or riding a bike solo in the back end of nowhere. A self-confessed coffee and b**r snob.

When it comes to food, he’s allergic to shellfish, and has a strong aversion to cucumber and mushrooms – but would have your arm off for a good curry.

A born-and-bred Liverpudlian who moved to Scotland aged ten, he remains a long-suffering Liverpool supporter.

He’s a keen but untalented musician and happy being the worst guitarist, drummer or uke player in any group setting.

Our team worked with Curated Cottages UK to develop a brand identity and SuperControl Online Booking System integrated website to support the launch of their new Dorset-based agency.

Starting a new agency from scratch is quite a challenge, and Curated Cottages needed something that would represent their portfolio of hand-picked luxury cottages and capture their passion for the area. Not only that, it needed to be future-proof for the company to grow and evolve into.

They've created something special for those looking not just to stay, but to fully experience everything this incredible area has to offer.
