In our final keynote of the day, Fabrice Beaulieu, Chief Marketing, Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer at Reckitt, Devina Paul, CFO at Zumo, Stan Stalnaker, Founding Director and Chief Strategy Officer for Hub Culture, and Philippe van Caenegem, Former Managing Director, Strategic Innovation at Salesforce, discussed technology-enabled sustainability as a differentiator.

In the next few years, we’ll see more sustainable product designs and contributions to society. Using machine learning, we can understand what people really want from their products and services – but this requires a large change management component.

So how can we influence this change? Big brands have a big voice and often rely on technology. A brand can inspire different behaviours, but it needs to be done in an authentic way to maximise adoption.

Sophia Bantanidis, Analyst, Future of Finance, Citi Global Insights, Angie French, Former Director, Northern Europe, Marketing Science, META, and Dusan Odobasic, Chairman and CTO of Threedium, joined forces in their “Keynote: Big data, big responsibilities – how can data be leveraged and still deliver benefits for business and society?”

Our three speakers delivered a topical dissection of the role of data in our society, who owns it, how we can benefit from it, and what we need to watch out for.

Does data centralization pose a challenge? There are companies that have absolute power to use data, such as Meta and Google, and those that have little access. So what guidelines can be followed when using data to enhance business operations and the customer experience, without running into exclusion issues?

With sustainability top of mind for businesses, investment in climate-friendly innovations is also on the rise. This in turn creates the concept of contributing to a positive framework.

We need AI, blockchain, and other emerging technologies to move the needle forward for businesses as they launch net-zero initiatives.

In her keynote, “Shaping tech responsively and inclusively, policy, regulator and ethical consideration and the implications for industries and our economy”, Sherry Coutu, Chair & Founder of Founders4Schools spoke on her experience starting a digital boost during the pandemic to help small businesses access mentors.

Using AI and emerging technologies, Founders4Schools can recommend cross-industry teachers, effectively saving small businesses the cost of digitally upscaling their staff.

In his keynote discussing fostering innovation, investment, and trade in emerging technologies, Lord Dominic Johnson CBE, Minister of State for the Department of Business and Trade, elaborated on the importance of taking care to uplift and generate active interest in emerging technologies in all demographics.

The UK is surely becoming one of the leading countries in regard to encouraging and advancing the emerging tech field. With government backing, now is the time to invest and take an interest in the UK technology scene.
