It only takes one person to make a difference in the world. Imagine how that impact could be amplified when many diverse people apply their passions, skills and backgrounds to solve problems.

At SAS, people know fueling purpose and passion can have big results for the business and customers. Here are some examples of what can happen when employees come together to apply their passions to business goals:

This year, SAS Innovate in Orlando brought executives and other industry luminaries together to inspire attendees to use analytics to outpace tomorrow.

Chief Marketing Officer Jenn Chase, who hosted the event, shared on social media the exhilarating experience of being at SAS' first large-scale, fully live and in-person event in over four years.

SAS Innovate in Orlando was a great blend of fun and networking. While SAS Innovate has now shifted to Europe, take a moment to enjoy some photos from SAS Innovate in Orlando before we embark further on the Innovate Tour:

When you think about life-saving technology, does a statistical computing environment come to mind? Statistical computing environments (SCE) are critical in accelerating scientific discoveries by enabling researchers to manage, process and analyze data efficiently and compliantly, maintaining the utmost regulatory integrity.

But with so many SCEs in the market, how do organizations know they’re working on the most effective, productive platforms?

Humanity collectively creates 2.5 quintillion bytes of data daily, presenting incredible opportunities for organizations—especially those who collect it in the cloud. Cloud-based data offers excellent insights for organizations, including a meaningful look at customer needs and operational improvements.

However, these benefits come with risks, especially regarding security. According to IBM Security’s latest “Cost of a Data Breach Report,” the average compromise now costs organizations $4.35 million, which doesn’t include the loss of trust and credibility that can take years to build.

That’s where Azure Confidential Computing (ACC) comes in, a new solution launched by SAS, our strategic partner Microsoft and chipmaker AMD. With it, IT leaders can offer better cloud data security than traditional on-premise solutions. Keep reading to learn more about the Azure Confidential Computing solution, its benefits and why it matters to organizations:

"Demand planning is a team sport," says Davis Wu, Global Lead of Demand Planning and Analytics at Nestlé S.A. The team at Nestlé includes demand planners, demand analysts and data scientists, who all work together to ensure that Nestlé products remain in stock.

Many demand analysts can be seen as citizen data scientists, said Wu, and SASÂź ViyaÂź allows them to work with data and "get down to street level." Expanding that point further, he adds, "You can still use machine learning and other capabilities without coding. You can still execute the most sophisticated machine learning algorithms without the data science background.":

"For those not knee-deep in the ModelOps process, the process may seem simple," says Ankit Sinha, Director of Product Management at Experian: "You build the model, deploy the model and reap the benefits."

But the process starts to become very complex when you're using multiple database systems and data sources to build the model. Complexity also comes with missing data sets, hosting, converting, testing and validating the model:

SAS inventors came together on April 24 at The Umstead Hotel to celebrate something completely unique: ideas. Ideas that became patents. 54 of them, to be exact.

During his remarks, CTO Bryan Harris dialed in on just how important new ideas are in our current environment. “When you think about ChatGPT, large language models and things like that, you’ve got to start to wonder: What’s it going to be like when
you’re one prompt away from understanding everything? What does it mean to have unique ideas?”:

Assigning observations into clusters can be challenging. One challenge is deciding how many clusters are in the data. Another is identifying which observations are potentially misclassified because they are on the boundary between two different clusters.

Ralph Abbey's 2019 paper ("How to Evaluate Different Clustering Results") is a good way to learn about clustering methods and some associated statistics in SAS. One of the statistics that Abbey mentions (p. 5) is the silhouette statistic.

This article discusses the silhouette statistic, the silhouette plot, and how the statistic can help you decide how many clusters are in the data and identify observations that are potentially misclassified:

A new report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) highlights the pressing need for prompt and resolute action across industries to tackle climate change.

The IPCC report, titled AR6 Synthesis Report: Climate Change 2023, provides scientific consensus on the severity of the climate crisis, its primary causes and the current disastrous impacts – particularly on the most climate-vulnerable infrastructure and regions.

Joe Nyangon has highlighted five essential points to help organizations grasp this report's significance:
