πŸŽ–οΈ From the Royal Signals to leading global cloud operations.

After 22 years in the Army, Richard Berry left the military during one of the most uncertain job markets in recent memory and stepped straight into the world of enterprise technology.

In the latest episode of The Route to Networking Podcast, Richard shares how a career spanning 16 countries, Cisco networking, satellite communications and large-scale IT operations helped shape his transition from military service to Global IT Operations Manager for SCC.

But this conversation goes far beyond technology.

We discuss:

βœ… Why understanding the fundamentals matters more than chasing the latest trends
βœ… The leadership skills military leavers often underestimate
βœ… How to translate military experience into language employers understand
βœ… The qualities that make service leavers exceptional hires
βœ… Why confidence is often the missing piece during the transition into civilian careers

Richard's message is simple:

"Don't let anybody tell you that you can't, because you can."

Whether you're a service leaver considering your next move into tech, or an employer looking to better understand the value military talent can bring, this is an episode worth listening to.

Leadership isn't something many organisations are great at teaching.

Yet thousands of military leavers have spent years developing it in high-pressure environments.

Tomorrow on The Route to Networking Podcast, hosted by Louis Parratt, we speak with Richard Berry, Global IT Operations Manager at SCC, about why service leavers often underestimate the value they bring to civilian careers and why confidence is often the missing piece.

From the Royal Signals to leading global IT and cloud operations teams, Richard's journey offers some fantastic lessons on leadership, career transitions, and building long-term success in technology.

Whether you're a service leaver considering your next move or an employer looking to understand the value military talent can bring, there are some brilliant insights in this conversation.

Launching tomorrow. 🎧

Huge congratulations to Maximus Loffredo on his promotion to Senior Consultant! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

When Max joined Hamilton Barnes just over a year ago, he had no previous recruitment experience. Since then, his progress has been nothing short of impressive.

After earning his promotion from Rookie to Consultant in record time, he has continued to build momentum, establishing himself, building genuine partnerships with clients, and delivering outstanding results. That foundation will serve him incredibly well as he continues to grow his career.

What stands out most is not just the results, but the way Max has achieved them. Through consistency, hard work, determination and a willingness to learn, he has continued to raise the bar and embrace every challenge put in front of him.

Perhaps most importantly, Max remains focused on improving. He is always looking at where he can get better, setting himself high standards and holding himself accountable to achieving them.

This promotion is thoroughly deserved and a reflection of the effort, attitude and commitment he brings every day.

Congratulations, Max! We are excited to see what comes next. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸš€

The last of our Austin award winners for May is Jack Rafferty, who finished the month as Austin's Top Performer! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Jack is part of our Telecoms team, specialising in the IP market, and delivered an outstanding month with some impressive results to cap it off.

Consistency is one of Jack's greatest strengths. He leads by example every day, is highly respected by his teammates, and continues to set the standard with his work ethic, attitude, and performance. πŸ’ͺ🏼

His success hasn't happened by accident. It is the result of work, dedication, and effort, all of which have contributed to a fantastic year and earned him the Top Performer spot for May.

Massive congratulations, Jack. Very well deserved! πŸ”₯

Huge congratulations to our London MVP, winner of the Jack Haine Player's Player Award and also our Top Performer for May, Ronnie Heath! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

They say things come in threes, and Ronnie has certainly proved that true.
Fresh off the back of his promotion to Senior Consultant, Ronnie followed it up by becoming our Top Performer for May and now adds the Jack Haine Player's Player Award to an already impressive list of achievements. πŸ†

To say he has been on fire feels like an understatement. May was an absolute monster of a month, and the result of relentless hard work, consistency, and determination. Ronnie has been grafting every single day, getting stuck in, and setting the standard with an attitude and work ethic that has inspired those around him. πŸ”₯

It's no surprise that he finished the month as he did, and it's certainly no surprise that he won this prestigious peer-voted award in convincing fashion.

The respect he has earned from his colleagues is clear to see.

Ronnie is a brilliant example of what can be achieved by doing the basics exceptionally well, staying focused, and showing up every day with the same drive and ambition.

A thoroughly deserved achievement and, somehow, it still feels like he's only just getting started.

Congratulations, Ronnie! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸΎ

A huge congratulations to Chloe Chong, our APAC MVP for May! πŸ†

The APAC MVP is a peer-voted award, recognising the person who has made the biggest contribution to the business throughout the month. It's safe to say Chloe has gone above and beyond.

Over the past few months, Chloe has become the go-to person for just about everything.

From organising office events, booking dinners and nights out for visiting colleagues, to taking the lead on planning this month's AGM, she's taken on a huge amount of responsibility and consistently delivered.

What makes Chloe stand out is the incredible range of skills she brings to the team. One day she's coordinating events, the next she's writing Python code and helping build websites. Her versatility, willingness to learn, and ability to get stuck into anything that's thrown her way have made a massive impact across the business.

Her work ethic is second to none. In fact, it's not uncommon for the team to be telling her to switch off and enjoy her evening when emails are still flying out close to midnight!

A very well-deserved winner and a fantastic example of the impact one person can have on a team. Congratulations, Chloe! πŸ‘
