JOURNEY OF LINGPAD
Lingpad – A journey of achievements, long hours, smiles, hard work, arguments, sprints, late nights, endless meetings and so much more in between! We tried to keep this all a secret, but a lot must have leaked through the cracks for sure 🙂
**Why and how did it all start?**
Of course, with a sparkling idea in a blazing mind! The idea of building an AI-driven and cloud-based
Translation Management System took birth in the head of our over-enthusiastic and ever-helpful CEO – **Ronak Thakkar**. It had to be a platform that is powerful but intuitive, innovative but user-friendly, easy to build yet, a market leader! Well, it was meant to be for companies, teams, agencies, translators and for anyone who had localisation in their mind and globalisation in their growth strategy. Consumers want no hassles; just an easy to use and friendly system that can cater to all translation and localisation needs. So, what happened after the idea was born? Well, then started brainstorming and putting it all on paper. **Mahi Baid** – our first employee (signed under Translate By Humans, but technically the one who gave Lingpad its wings to start with!) started building out the first prototypes of this futuristic system. Everyone got excited – the journey had started, the destination did not appear too far then! All was looking bright; thump! We had a setback – Mahi had to leave and, sadly - Lingpad went into standby ☹️ BTW, it wasn’t named until then…shhhhhhh! 🤫
Well, when something has grown onto you, it never dies. Such was the idea of Lingpad! Going through the pandemic, we all wanted to do something to cheer ourselves up, get some real thrill and excitement - away from the Corona stats! Wearing our PJs and putting on our creative hats again, we decided to give another chance to Lingpad. Home-made coffee, cosy sofas and undisturbed working from home became our way of life! We were all back in action! Afterall, Lingpad was not meant to die. Life got busier, days got longer and nights, restless! How could we have a sound sleep when all that we designed, ate, drank, thought, wrote was Lingpad? Daily sprints, catch-ups, knowledge transfers, meetings, deep dives into the world of AI, code writing, technical dilemmas – phew, there was so much going on! We had to unlearn and relearn so many new terminologies/ technologies like cloud computing, translation memory, translation glossary, python fundamentals, AWS server, project management and the list was endless. 🙂 New hirings and old learnings – all came to the rescue! Design team, Engineering Team, Product Team, Content Team, Ops Team, CTO, COO and CEO and even our customers (indirectly of course!)– everyone was involved – how could anyone remain aloof of this crazy stuff going on around them! Life was exciting, yet nervous – it all looked very complicated at times! When will we go live? Almost at the finishing line, but so much more to do. Testing, technical setbacks, coordination within the teams, getting all to agree and green lights from our key stakeholders – it was all looking very grim! Yet, there was enough light at the end of the tunnel 🙂 We all believed in our hearts, we will make it! Lingpad was now almost ready to take off! By now, it had its identity, logo and its own voice too! The content team was busy writing and preparing social media strategies while the tech teams were finishing all last minutes tests and making final updates/corrections. The brilliant idea finally, had now become a plausible product – ready to be launched! After a few more meetings, final to-dos and last minute approvals and tests, here we are – the curtain-raiser for you all – Ta da! Here’s introducing to you the result of all of our hard work and your belief – **LINGPAD** – our very own AI-driven, cloud based and the most intuitive Translation Management System! Hats off for all of us! Thank you to one and all indeed!
