Here are the answers to this morning's lunch quiz:

1. Aquaplaning: the tyres ride on top of the water and lose contact with the road. Ease off the accelerator, avoid braking sharply, and steer gently until grip returns.

2. Minimum legal tread depth for a car: 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around its entire circumference.

3. Flashing amber beacon: a slow-moving vehicle. Be ready to slow down and pass with care, only when it's safe.

Three questions, three things examiners watch for. With BookDrive™, your progress is tracked lesson by lesson, so you and your instructor both know what's secure and what needs one more hour before test day.

Lunch break. Three questions. Thirty seconds. No googling. 🕐

Student Thursday: Thursday 5 November, 12:00.

1. Your tyres lose contact with the road in heavy rain. What is this called, and what should you do?

2. What's the minimum legal tread depth for a car tyre?

3. A vehicle ahead is displaying a flashing amber beacon. What does that tell you?

Drop your answers below. The correct ones land in tonight's 5pm post, along with why each one matters on test day.

Two lessons missed. That's the quiet number in every instructor's week.

At £40 a lesson, two no-shows a week is £4,160 a year walking out of the diary. Nobody invoices it. Nobody budgets for it. It just disappears.

A reminder 24 hours before every lesson doesn't just save admin. It protects income you already earned in your head.

BookDrive™ sends those reminders automatically, and collects the payment after the lesson through Stripe, so the lesson you taught gets paid, and the lesson they cancelled gets caught early.

Thursday night. A pupil asks the question no instructor can answer honestly from memory: “Am I ready?”

Nearly half of UK practical tests end in a first-time fail. Most of those weren’t learners who couldn’t drive. They were pupils who booked before the competencies were actually secure.

The difference between “I think you’re nearly there” and “you’re test-ready” is data. Progress recorded against every DVSA competency, after every lesson, so the booking decision is evidence, not hope.

BookDrive™ tracks FirstPass progress in real time, for you and your pupil to see together.

Sunday, 9pm. Everyone else is on the sofa. You're at the desk, rebuilding Monday from scraps of paper and half-remembered messages.

You became an instructor for the freedom. Somewhere between the spreadsheets and the payment chasing, the freedom got reversed.

Keep the week organised as it happens, and Sunday at 9pm goes back to being sofa time. Bookings, progress, payments, all in one place while you teach, not reconstructed after the family has gone to bed.

BookDrive™ was built for that evening. No instructor should have to choose between their family and their business.

Sunday. 9pm.

Everyone else is on the sofa. You're at the kitchen table with the paper diary, a WhatsApp thread and one eye on the spreadsheet, rebuilding Monday from memory.

Nobody became an instructor to spend Sunday night inside their own diary.

Two minutes after each lesson is all it takes. The lesson logged, the payment recorded, the progress noted while it's still fresh. Do it as the week happens and Sunday at 9pm stays on the sofa, blanket out, film on, nothing waiting.

BookDrive™ keeps the week organised as you work, so the admin never follows you into the evening.

Saturday morning. You promised yourself a lie-in. Instead, you're replying to three pupils asking about next week, chasing an invoice from Tuesday and hoping the diary holds together.

Nobody warned you that going independent meant becoming an accounts department, a receptionist and a marketing team on top of teaching.

The way back is simpler than it looks. Keep bookings, payments and pupil progress in one place as you work, and Saturday mornings start looking like Saturday mornings again. Fewer messages to answer from memory. Fewer invoices chased from a shoebox.

BookDrive™ exists because that Saturday should belong to you, not the admin.

Imagine reaching test day with the road rules clear in your head, and feeling ready to make safe decisions.

Here are the answers to the 12:00 lunch quiz:

1. Single yellow line: No waiting during the times shown on the nearby signs.
2. Smart motorway hard shoulder running as a lane: Follow the speed limit shown on the gantries. If no speed limit is displayed, the national speed limit applies. Never use a lane marked with a red X.
3. National speed limit for a car on a single carriageway: 60 mph.

Knowing what to look for helps you respond confidently on the road and on test day. With BookDrive™, your progress is tracked lesson by lesson, so you and your instructor can see what’s coming along and what needs more practice.

Lunch break. Three questions. Thirty seconds. No googling. 🍔

1. A single yellow line runs along the kerb. What does it mean?

2. You're on a smart motorway and the hard shoulder opens as a running lane. What speed limit applies?

3. What's the national speed limit for a car on a single carriageway?

Drop your answers below. The correct ones land in tonight's 5pm post, along with why getting these right on test day matters more than you think.

350 trees. Planted by one person, for two daughters.

Not a company policy. Not a badge. I looked at the world my girls may inherit and could not sit still, so I planted them myself.

That is the standard we hold the business to. We do not claim neutrality. We claim accountability: we plant, we count, we publish, and we are honest about the gap.

The same honesty runs through BookDrive™. Less paper, fewer evenings lost to admin, more of your life accounted for.
