Why do travellers hand over their passport at an airport without hesitation, but question the same request before a stay?

The difference is context.

When guests understand why identity verification is needed, they are more likely to be patient, cooperative and trusting throughout the process.

Gabriel Coachman from Chekin explains how clear communication can turn verification from a barrier into the beginning of the guest relationship.

AI works when it has the right context.

Most guest questions are practical:

➡️ How do I check in?

➡️ How do I get verified?

➡️ What do I need to do next?

In this eviivo Blitzcast, Shani Cohen from UpMarket explains why AI needs to be tightly integrated into the guest journey, so it can support travellers with the questions that actually matter.

Location can win the first booking.

Experience wins the next one.

For pubs with rooms, being based in a popular destination like the Lake District or the Cotswolds can naturally bring attention.

But as CEO of Stay in a Pub Sophie Braybrooke explains, location is only the start of the booking journey.

The real opportunity is in the experience guests remember the reason they rebook, recommend, and see the pub as a destination in its own right.

That could mean stronger local collaborations, better storytelling, more useful guest recommendations, or partnerships with nearby businesses that add value before, during and after the stay.

For pub owners, the message is clear:

Don’t operate in isolation.

The local area, community and guest experience can all become part of your direct booking strategy.

Direct bookings don’t happen by accident.

For hotels, reducing OTA dependency starts with getting the foundations right.

Before you think about advanced marketing tactics, your direct channel needs three things:

➡️ A website guests can trust.
➡️ A booking engine that makes reservations seamless.
➡️ Pricing and promotions that give guests a reason to book direct.

Because if a guest finds you on an OTA, checks your website, then returns to the OTA to book the direct booking opportunity is gone.

Swipe through for 3 direct booking strategies hotels can use now to increase margin, reduce commission costs, and take more control of the guest relationship.

Location gets you noticed. Experience gets you rebooked.

For pubs with rooms, being in a high-demand destination like the Lake District or the Cotswolds can help drive initial interest.

But relying on location alone can mean leaving money on the table.

The real opportunity is in becoming a destination in your own right.

That could mean building stronger guest experiences, telling a clearer story online, or collaborating with other local businesses to give guests more reasons to book, stay, return and recommend.

As CEO of Stay in a Pub, Sophie Braybrooke explains, owners should not see themselves in isolation.

The local area, the community, and the experience around the stay can all become part of the value.

For operators looking to drive more direct bookings, collaborations are not just good for social content.

🙌 A great few days in Hocking Hills with the Hocking Hills Lodging Owners Association.

Huge shoutout to Kennedy Winn, who did a fantastic job representing eviivo and sharing insights on the 2026 STR market, including supply, demand, occupancy trends, and how traveler behavior is shifting.

The room was packed, the conversations were valuable, and it was a great opportunity to meet so many Hocking Hills lodging operators face-to-face.

We also had the chance to connect with several growing property businesses in the area, which made the trip even more worthwhile.

It’s easy to see why Hocking Hills continues to be such a standout destination.

Between the setting, the guest experience, and the strength of the local lodging community, there is a lot of momentum in the region.

Thank you to Hocking Hills Lodging Association for hosting!

The operators who scale best are not doing everything manually.

They are automating the repeatable work.

At Short Stay Summit, Florian Hoven from KeyNest shared how automation can help property operators reduce manual processes from guest check-ins to cleaner communication and day-to-day operations.

Because as you grow, the goal is not just to manage more properties.

It is to manage them more efficiently.

Less chasing.
Less manual admin.
More room to grow.

Risk is not something you deal with after something goes wrong.

It should be part of your growth strategy.

At Short stay summit , Leo Walton, Co-Founder of Truvi shared why short-term rental operators need to think more intentionally about risk management.

Because owners are not only asking:

“Can you get bookings?”

They are also thinking:

“What happens if something goes wrong in my property?”

Parties, damage, guest screening, deposits, claims and owner trust all become bigger conversations as you scale.

The strongest operators are the ones who can walk into an owner pitch and clearly explain how they protect the property, reduce risk and give owners peace of mind.

And as Leo highlighted, there can also be a monetisation opportunity here.

A strong risk strategy can become part of a trust package helping operators protect owners while strengthening the value of their service.

Great insight from Leo Walton and the Truvi team.
