Effective Project Scope Management with Agile user stories
Project Scoping is the cornerstone of successful project planning. Without it, gauging the investment of time, money, and effort is a shot in the dark.
To master a project, we must first grasp its objectives and plan resource allocation. This starts with defining the Project Scope.
At inCode Systems, our Project Scope is crafted from decomposed user stories, split into two key steps: User Stories & Epics, and User Story Decomposition.
Step 1: User Stories & Epics
Each user story covers:
🌟User statement
🌟Assumptions
🌟Edge Cases
🌟Acceptance criteria
🌟Design links (if relevant)
Grouped into clusters, these user stories set the stage for priority setting and project scalability. Epics unite stories under a common theme. For instance, stories like Registration, Login, and Restore Password unite under the epic Authentication.
Step 2: Story Decomposition
With finalized user stories and clear client expectations, we delve into story decomposition. We decide which stories come first and which can follow.
Project managers break stories into Development and Design tasks, while teams internally subdivide tasks further, like Back-end, Front-end, Prototyping, and Visual Design.
