PROPER AWARDS 2021
Well, last night, Sandy and I went to the inaugural Proper Awards at The Ministry of Sound in London – and all we returned with was a lanyard each!
Having been announced as a (surprised) finalist in the Marketing, Branding and PR category back in August, I’d left it late before deciding to go. It was not to be missed, and I’d only regret not going later if I wasn’t there.
I’d never been to the venue before. We were greeted by a couple of Stilt Dancers and were handed the aforementioned Lanyard. Street Food outlets were set around the entrance, and a jazz band playing inside. The Awards took place in a room called The Box, Sean Williamson (Barry from Eastenders) was the compere, and tbh he was actually quite good. He now makes a living out of self-deprecating about his past jobs, plus a few jokes that I am sure I’d seen on Facebook recently.
Having already linked up with my fellow finalist, Alex Thompson, a copywriter from Newcastle, on LinkedIn, I was already impressed with his work enough to know there was only going to be one winner. I met him at the bar before the awards and wished him luck, which he didn’t need, as he was announced as the winner. Well done, Alex.
Thanks to Nick Rich and the Proper Awards for an excellent night. And to all my clients who left feedback on the website … it all starts again for next year’s Awards. To leave feedback on Creative Wire, go to https://bit.ly/34xYegT
