Earlier this week, our co-founder & CEO Aidan Larkin was invited to give evidence on the links between cryptocurrency and ransomware at the UK House of Commons Joint Committee on National Security Strategy.

Aidan was honoured to discuss global asset recovery issues with the parliamentary committee:

“Disrupting criminals and depriving them of ill-gotten gains takes away many of the motives and it's great to see Asset Recovery being elevated as a strategic tool in tackling this problem. Back in August 2021, Asset Reality became a founding partner of the Crypto Fraud and Asset Recovery network. This network was created by some of the world's leading names in crypto fraud investigations and asset recovery to discuss their practical experiences and develop best practices for the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency sector.

Over the last 18 months, we've been delighted to see the CFAAR network grow from a handful of founding firms to more than 1800 members around the world!

We are thrilled to welcome Rebecca Belgrave, Partner in Dispute Resolution at Mishcon de Reya LLP; Jessica Lee, Partner at Brown Rudnick LLP; Dani Haston, Head of Global Asset Management at our partner Chainalysis and Charlotte Hill (夏 洛特), Senior Associate at Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP to the network's board.

These new additions will expand the CFAAR's London board to 12 firms; alongside new foreign chapters opened recently in Hong Kong, North America and Singapore – with more chapters expected soon in the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Last week, our co-founder & CEO Aidan Larkin was invited to sit down with Karl Fitzpatrick from South East Radio’s podcast to discuss the world of seized digital assets.

After the island of Jamaica became one of the first countries in the world to issue tokens as legal tender, Asset Reality was appointed as the country’s asset manager by the Jamaican authorities. The island’s law enforcement agencies are also one of the first international jurisdictions to use our new Asset Recovery Management System (ARMS) Platform.

Thanks to this appointment, several members of the Asset Reality team were invited back to the island of Jamaica for a conference organised by the Financial Investigations Division, Ministry of Finance and the Public Service.

Joanna Summers, Thomas J. Abernathy, Connor Filley & Aidan Larkin spent several days at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel learning about Jamaica's plans to widen their Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) through collaboration.

Aidan was also invited to give a presentation on the role of cryptocurrencies, NFTs and other digital assets in financial crime.
