Your team knows the drill — probe, record, move on.

But what happens when the reading gets written down incorrectly? Or the logbook goes missing before an inspection? Or it's just one more manual task on an already packed shift?

That's exactly why we built Bluetooth temperature probe integration into Check65.

Here's how it works:
🔵 Connect your ETI Bluetooth probe to the Check65 app
🔵 Run your temperature check as normal
🔵 The reading goes straight into the app — automatically, accurately, instantly

Every reading is stored digitally, building a robust audit trail that's ready the moment an EHO walks through your door.

And if you're already a Check65 user with an ETI Bluetooth probe? You can start using this today, at no extra cost.

Temperature monitoring isn't going anywhere. But the headaches around it? Those we can fix.

The sun's out. The terraces are packed. And your food safety risks just went up a level.

Warm weather is brilliant for hospitality. But it's also brilliant for bacteria.

The risks that catch operators out every summer? Fridges struggling in the heat, deliveries sitting on warm loading bays, pests finding their way into open kitchen doors, and hand hygiene slipping during busier services.

Every one of them is preventable. But only if you're looking for them.

Don't let a busy summer become a food safety incident waiting to happen.

But don't worry, we're here to help.

Food safety culture isn't built in a training session. It's built in the everyday moments.

It's the chef who questions an ingredient they're not sure about. The front-of-house team member who double-checks an allergen before it reaches the table. The manager who leads by example, every shift, not just when the EHO is due.

The businesses that get this right don't treat food safety as a checklist. They treat it as a mindset.

So how do you build that culture? It starts with three things:

1. Leadership sets the tone. If food safety is a priority for you, it becomes a priority for your team. What you model matters more than what you mandate.

2. Make it easy to do the right thing. Clear processes, accessible information, and the right tools mean your team doesn't have to choose between speed and safety.

3. Talk about it openly. Create an environment where people feel safe raising concerns without fear of blame. The near-misses you hear about are the incidents you prevent.

Compliance keeps you legal. Culture keeps your guests safe.

May is Coeliac Awareness Month, and for anyone running a food business, this one really matters.

Coeliac disease affects 1 in 100 people in the UK. But only 36% are medically diagnosed, meaning there are an estimated 500,000 people living with the condition without even knowing it.

That's half a million guests walking through your doors who may be unknowingly at risk.

Gluten-free diners often influence where entire groups choose to eat, meaning that catering effectively for this audience doesn't just protect your guests, it drives footfall from friends, family and colleagues too.

Coeliac disease is not a preference. It's not a trend. It's a serious autoimmune condition, and for your guests, the difference between a safe meal and a harmful one starts with your team.

This month, ask yourself:
✅ Does your team know the difference between a gluten intolerance and coeliac disease?
✅ Are your allergen processes truly airtight?
✅ Could you confidently serve a coeliac guest, every time?

If there's any hesitation on any of those, we're here to help.

At Food Alert, we support hospitality businesses to build food safety cultures that protect every guest.

Drop us a message or visit our website to find out how we can support your team this Coeliac Awareness Month and beyond.

This week is Food Allergy Awareness Week, and it's one we take seriously at Food Alert.

According to Allergy UK, 97% of allergy sufferers worry about having a reaction when they're not in control of food preparation.

That's nearly every allergic guest who walks through your door.

The worry doesn't go away. But the risk? That's something you can control.

This week, ask yourself:
✅ Is your allergen information accurate and accessible to every team member?
✅ Does your front-of-house know what to do when a guest flags an allergy?
✅ When did you last review your allergen processes?

If any of those give you pause, we're here to help.

Drop us a message to find out how Food Alert can support your team.

It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year's theme is Action.

For hospitality leaders, that couldn't be more timely.

According to the Institute of Hospitality, 76% of hospitality workers report having experienced mental health issues in their careers, up from just 56% in 2018. And half of those say the challenges have hit in the last two years alone.

This isn't a pipeline problem or a pay problem. It's a culture problem. And it starts (and ends) with leadership.

The good news? Action doesn't have to be complicated.

It can be a manager who checks in, not just on service, but on their team. A rota that doesn't leave people running on empty. A kitchen where it's okay to say "I'm not okay."

This week, we're asking hospitality managers to take one small, meaningful action for their team's mental health. Because the industry we love can't keep burning through the people who make it great.

What's one thing you're doing for your team's wellbeing this week? Share it below. 👇

Recent reports of hantavirus linked to a cruise ship have raised questions, but health authorities are clear in stating that there is no wider public health threat.

Here's what you need to know:

What is it?
A rare virus carried by rodents, spread through contact with their droppings, urine, or saliva.

Does it spread between people?
No — not easily. Person-to-person transmission is extremely rare and not a risk in everyday workplace or public settings.

What's the current risk?
The WHO and UKHSA confirm the overall public health risk is low. This is a small, contained cluster — not comparable to COVID-19. There is no indication of a developing epidemic.

What should businesses do?
No changes to operations are needed. Continue your routine good hygiene practices and keep your teams informed and calm.

Food Alert is monitoring the situation closely. We'll keep you updated as guidance develops.
