The old advice was easy. Whether it was dodgy grammar, a weird sender address, or a too-good-to-be-true offer – if something looked or felt a bit off, it usually was.

AI has quietly retired most of that. The emails landing in inboxes now are well-written, on-brand, and often referencing real people and real projects.

The new tells are harder to teach: unexpected urgency, a request that skips the usual process, and a payment detail that's changed at the last minute.
