Craic proudly joined Head Held High charity at their annual fundraising gala last night, held at The Comedy Store London.

Founded and led by Tash Alexander, HHH leads motivational and interactive workshops for young people up to the age of 25 who are at risk of exclusion, lacking in direction or affiliated with youth violence. Their goal is prevention and through compassionate and engaging intervention, with an aim to reduce school exclusions, antisocial behaviour and knife crime.

Their work is highly interactive and genuinely changing lives, including through Comedy-on-Prescription workshops and comedian mentors.

The message is clear: if HHH can't raise more funds in the next few months, they can't continue their work. If you or someone you know can donate, please visit https://headheldhigh.org.uk/support-us/.

It was an brilliant night attended by MP and Chair of the Creative Health APPG, Dr Simon Opher; with an incredibly funny line-up: MC Tom Ward, Kerry Godliman, Joshua Robertson, Laura Smyth, Nish Kumar, and Rich Hall 🎸; and HHH graduate Ro Dodgson.

⚠️ WARNING: This is not a pill, it’s the world’s first Comedy-on-Prescription panel at the inaugural .

Craic Health's panel contains traces of political satire with known side effects including laughter, where Dr Simon Opher for Stroud bravely meets Tom Walker (AKA fictitious political reporter Jonathan Pie!).

This is a fierce, funny, and culturally urgent conversation about comedy as healthcare—and how we will prove laughter is and always will be the best medicine.

May cause lingering aftertaste. Possibly life-altering. Definitely not over the counter.

Featuring:
– Tom Walker (aka Jonathan Pie), fearless satirist, actor and comedian
– Dr Simon Opher MP, GP and social prescribing pioneer
– Jack Gamble, CEO at Campaign for the Arts
– Louisa Jackson, Founder of Craic™ including Craic Health, the comedy tech platform behind Comedy-on-Prescription

Thanks to Dr Simon Opher for Stroud for joining forces with Craic with the aim to integrate Comedy-on-Prescription into NHS Policy.

The cost of in England was £300bn in 2022—social prescribing delivers up to £8.56 for every £1 invested.

Did you know you can ask your GP to be referred to a social prescriber? There's gardening/art/museums-on-prescription, however until now there has been no Comedy-on-Prescription—laughter has proven chemical, social and physical benefits.

If people wish to learn more on the scientific evidence behind the health benefits of Comedy, please visit: https://craic.health/evidence.

Special thanks to Dr Opher and his team, who are extremely supportive of our work - Louisa Jackson, Founder of Craic.

Since being elected, I've worked closely alongside Lu Jackson (the founder of Craic Health) on a social prescribing scheme called comedy-on-prescription.

1 in 5 adults are on antidepressants. Comedy and laughter could help lower our reliance on pills to treat mild to moderate depression.

Comedy is something that hasn't been done before in the social prescribing field and I'm excited to see if laughter really is the best medicine!

Craic Health has secured funding to trial the scheme and you can read more about it here or through my linktree: https://www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/news/national/24949501.comedy-on-prescription-trials-way-bid-improve-mental-health/
