Phishing is a type of cyberattack where attackers impersonate legitimate organizations or individuals in order to trick you into revealing sensitive information, such as passwords, credit card details, or company data. These attacks typically come in the form of emails, but they can also be spread through text messages or phone calls.

✨ Signs of a Phishing Email

-> Suspicious Sender Address:
Phishing emails often appear to come from familiar sources, but the email address may contain small variations or odd domain names (e.g., [email protected] instead of [email protected]).

->Generic Greetings:
Phishing emails may address you as “Dear Customer” or “Dear User” instead of using your name. Legitimate companies will usually address you by your full name.

-> Urgent or Threatening Language:
A common tactic is to create a sense of urgency or fear, such as “Your account has been compromised” or “Immediate action required to secure your account.”

->Unusual Links or Attachments:
Hover your mouse over any links before clicking them. If the URL seems suspicious or doesn’t match the company’s official website, it's a red flag. Attachments should also be treated with caution, especially if you weren't expecting them.

->Requests for Sensitive Information:
Legitimate organizations will never ask you to share personal information (passwords, credit card numbers, etc.) via email.

->Spelling and Grammar Errors:
Phishing emails often contain poor grammar, awkward phrasing, or spelling mistakes. These can be an indication that the email is not legitimate.

Don’t Respond:
Avoid replying to the email or clicking on any links. If the email claims to be from a legitimate company, contact them directly through official channels.

Report It:

Delete It:

The risks extend beyond the user of the app to anyone using the compromised network. Unwanted access can lead to the theft of sensitive data, including financial information and personal correspondence. Each connection point is a potential entry for those with malicious intent.
