Some thoughts on the Sonic State Logic SSL 360 software...
I know I'm a bit late to the table with this as it has been out for over a year, lol, so old news for some. Well, when everything is working in the studio, you tend to just crack onβ¦
However, one of our existing audio interfaces was starting to play up a bit, and I have been looking at the various upgrade options on the market and thought I would check out this SSL 360 thingy at the same time⦠I am a SSL fan anyway and have used their studio consoles over the years and also tend to still use their channel strip plugins to this day (old school, I guess, but hey, I'm cool with that).
My tests are with Steinberg Nuendo 14, but Cubase is the same, and it works with most DAWs, so, without going into a big review...
It's basically build your own virtual SSL desk & plugin mixer to use with your DAW. I never realised it could be so useful! Not only is it working flawlessly, but the improved workflow over your DAWs own mixer by not having to open individual plugin screens all the time is a real time saver on a bigger multi-track project. Mapping 3rd party plugin controls/buttons to use in the 360 mixer is the easiest and most intuitive process I have ever come across. Well done, SSL!! It makes sense to consider their own audio interfaces as an upgrade now... let's see π
